China declares all crypto-currency transactions illegal
Hope there aren't too many people in China trying to buy a Tesla
They wouldnt have got very far ... Tesla stopped accepting BTC in May when Elon decided crypto was environmentally unfriendly I thought Elon had had second thoughts about his second thoughts about not accepting Bitcoin (or has he changed his mind again?)

I think his second thoughts about his second thoughts were thoughts for the possible future. So they might or might not accept bitcoin in the future was the last I heard.

All the fans of Bitcoin appear to have gone a bit quiet. I wonder why?
Hands up all those who held Bitcoin when they were $67k, but never sold them?

Guessing the people in some South American & African countries who over the last year were told that it was not about making a profit (not sure "how pull the other one" translates ) but a way to financial freedom are getting a tad nervous

Wish I understood how Bitcoin works.
At around 7:53 am this morning the value went down by 5% in about 10 minutes. Is this just somebody selling?

Yep. Sentiment driven supply and demand.

Before P2P, savers put a guinea in a piggy bank, now they smash the banks to become guinea pigs.

What happens if Bitcoin goes negative, are holders liable to make up the difference?
I remember oil futures went sharply negative in April 2020.

I don't think it can go negative, It could in theory drop to zero, it's like shares If the company goes bust the shareholders end up with nothing,

The Big Short?
History repeats itself. Platform failures? dejavus or just covered ups?

The Big Short? History repeats itself. Platform failures? dejavus or just covered ups? Trading in stuff that has no intrinsic value at wildly fluctuating prices, what could possibly go wrong? P2p starts to seems rather tame in comparison. I wonder what the guy who started this thread thinks now. Did anyone follow his advice and plough their P2P gains/losses into crypto? Hopefully not using that platform.

The more I hear about FTX the more I wonder how a group of people not long out of their 20's, with virtually no business acumen, could have built an empire worth $30bn.
I see that senior members of SBF's team have agreed plea bargins and are now co-operating with the authorities (which I believe is a technical term for sh*tt*ng on a former colleague from a great height).
Word of the day - disgorgement, the requirement to pay back ill-gotten gains.
