I couldn't give the first toss about cricket - or indeed any sport - but I find it a slightly strange concept that somebody might have done their job well at some point in the past, ergo they can't possibly be anything but a lovely person in all directions.It seems to me that plenty of successful people in all sorts of fields have been unequivocally grade-A unlovely in all sorts of ways. I think that Badly Drawn Stickman has already made it clear - as frankly it mostly was originally - that was a 'jokey comment'.

Always funnier when you have to explain them as they say. But Lord only knows what the question would have to be to make me indulge in them. Easier to just let the madness roll on by most times. I think in this case you would have to know the significance of the ashes and I forgot some on here squeal when a ball comes near them.......

Indy car quali today apparently a bit of fun going on April 1st?. It's as difficult as putting socks on a rooster, it's as fast as a sneeze through a screen door, it was so hot hens were laying boiled eggs.

I wonder if one of our esteemed Liberal forumites could tell me why it is front page news that someone has thrown some yoghurt over someone else who was breaking the law in Iran? There are many worse things going on in many other countries. Should I assume there will be lots more articles like this and once the population is sufficiently softened up, the door will be open to join a coalition of sorts to invade Iran down the line ? www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-65150135 |

There are many worse things going on in many other countries. If you are unable to draw a line between two women being arrested for not wearing the hijab, and the deaths of hundreds of young women and girls for protesting about being forced to wear the hijab then I'm not sure anyone else can help you. I mean I know from your posts on many issues that you put the primacy of the state - and therefore of the autocrats/dictators that run them - way above the rights of individuals.. And so I know the back story of young women being beaten to death to in custody by the 'Morality Police'; or being targeted by security services when protesting such that they have a much higher probability of being shot in the chest or the genitals, doesn't really mean anything because they are 'breaking the law of the state'. But at the least I would have thought you were able to connect that the current story has that context as background. Still, I guess to know and care about those things make ones "Liberal", apparently. Rather than simply humanist. Long live the Autocrats ! Long live the power of the Powerful !
