A bit more info appearing today.
The Aussie government issued an exemption on the basis of medical information provided by Djokovic. When he arrived in Melbourne the imigration officials wanted to check his visa, but are unable to do so because they don't know what the medical condition was that prompted the exemption. The people who issued the visa are unable to pass this information to imigration as it would be a breach of data protection laws. As a consequence immigration wont let him in as they don't know whether his visa is valid or not.
So the easiest way to resolve the situation is for Djokovic to tell imigration why he qualifies for a medical exemption, but he appears unwilling to do this (I wonder why). So he's in a quarantine hotel until Monday, when his case will be decided.
I wonder just how long before he is either seen on a court practising, or appeals to be allowed to go out to practice. He like many others that are rich/famous appear to think Laws and rules don't apply to them ( Mr & Mrs Depp and the dogs ( also in Australia ))

Not sure you people are taking this seriously enough. This poor person has been imprisoned (according to his mother Dijana) in a tiny room (possibly styled by Lulu Lytle). I think he will have to be deported (could he not just have caught a plane home) or it will be the most interesting tennis tournament ever. Not to mention the Australian government looking a touch foolish.

Not to mention the Australian government looking a touch foolish. I believe part of the problem is that if he is Deported he is banned from returning for 5 years

More tennis players in Aus having their exemptions scrutinised.
Also, it appears that the exemption given to Novax wass issued by two 'independent' medical panels organised by Tennis Australia, the body that runs the event, and Victoria state, where the event is being held.
