The image which Johnson will be remembered for:- No. The queen will be remembered for that image. Johnson will be (figuratively) hung from a lampost partly because of it, but he won't be remembered by it. He'll be deposited into the dustbin of political history, and the few times he is remembered will be alongside a picture of large red bus, possibly alongside Dominic Cummings: the irony of it.

When I saw that picture first time I thought she chose to sit there. For isolation, for grief, I don't know. Would leave her prime jester out of this; no credit if not earned.

The picture juxtaposes only with a mental image of the person who would normally be at her side. Not sure what she was doing when I have faced my darkest moments but if she was partying I would not feel aggrieved. Far too much emotional nonsense doing the rounds currently. The current prime minister seems lacking, by all means pick another from the same faulty batch if anybody thinks it is worth the hassle.

If anyone wanted evidence that the planet is going to hell in a hand cart (no I don't mean NFT's) look no further than Forbes latest list of top Youtube earners. They include:
- a 10yo boy who made £19m from reviewing toys
- a 7yo girl who made £20m, initially as a toy unboxer (whatever that is) before moving on to music videos
- a man who made £39m from posting stunts and pranks to delight his audience (sounds like a modern day version of Candid Camera)

Or maybe a reflection of the future, and how far you, me and many others are totally disconnected with the reality of where the world is heading.... due to age?.. probably.

I suppose it's yet another form of entertainment which people apparently crave. Is it essentially any different to the "best" kickers of balls, makers of music, flashers of knockers, batters of balls (like Novax Jokervid.... and Joe Root allegedly), racers of cars, stars of film, throwers of darts, strokers of cue balls... receiving similar fortunes for their particular skillset? One personal acquaintance of mine is a Youtuber making a very tidy sum teaching computer gaming techniques. Another is desperately clawing his way to doing the same, but unlikely to make it (game too niche). He still works a drudge job in a factory, for now, but the first guy will never need to - Youtube hosting is now his work and pension pot, thank you very much. But if people weren't interested in these latter day minstrels and jesters, they'd earn very little. And of course most who set off down those paths never actually hit the big time. Must be one helluva lot of disappointed wannabees out there, who were exhorted to "just follow your dreams" rather than knuckle down and concentrate hard on acquiring a proper STEM or work-based skill.

I can't get my head around the concept of "social influencers", but I've come to the conclusion that is mostly an age (mine) thing. And making millions off youtube ? Of no social benefit at all. But George Clooney's deal with Nespresso alone is rumoured to be worth $40m. For what ? Pushing coffee machines and environmentally unfriendly coffee capsultes. He doesn't even have to to the trouble of actually providing any useful product comparison service. It is quite easy to construct an answer that the likes of YouTube have essentially made access to the trough of easy money far more egalitarian, and even meritocratic - if you have the idea and can pull it off to the satisifaction of the people holding the purse strings, you can make it happen. No need to break down the institutional barriers of traditional mediums. So yes, my heart says "hell in a handcart", my head says otherwise.

Police called to a Hobart hotel in the early hours of the morning to break up a rowdy party involving English and Australian cricketers.
I assume the English players were celebrating the fact they don't have to play another test match in Aus for another 4 years.
