I do love the launch of a new conspiracy... [...] Oh, and the registration website's crashed because the usual Tory trolls are trying to register every Tesco frozen chicken in their freezer... How very dare you, Tesco indeed. Waitrose, so you can cluck right off.... The website will have crashed for more prosaic reasons - I trust you see the irony in constructing your very own conspiracy theory here. It is a comical one though... had me chuckling, so... nice work! 👍

Spent most of lunch time trying to find a sports bar that was showing the England cricket game (started mid day Thailand time).
Glad I didn't find one.

Just the first bar that wasn't showing sports would've done me.

Just the first bar that wasn't showing sports would've done me. But those are the ones with ladies (allegedly) of dubious repute.

Cleverley has gone from first position in the previous round of the Tory leadership vote to knocked out in this one...
Not only was Tugendhat's vote split almost evenly between Badenoch and Jenrick, but Cleverley lost the support of two.
So - which of the two will the membership go for...?

Do you even need to ask Janrick by a landslide Badenoch is a woman, and worse than that she is a woman of colour ( that's too much for many of the membership ) I mean come on old boy that gal May lost us our majority, and that little flibbertigibbet Truss didn't last as long as a lettuce. Badenoch 3/5, Jenrick 6/4, Cleverly 4/1

There's a theory that Cleverley's camp was complacent that they were through, so "lent" votes to Jenrick to keep Badenoch out of the final two. Ooops.

Badenoch 3/5, Jenrick 6/4, Cleverly 4/1 the problem with that theory is that the membership DID vote for Truss, and still idolise Thatcher. And they voted for Sunak who at the least is 'not one of us'. Badernoch has been seen as the favourite amongst the membership I believe. Either way, we are going to be getting a bit of a headbanger as the next leader of the Tory party. The only question is how much, and in exactly what ways.

Ok, so things are looking up today. Credit to Joe Root who kept his concentration despite being on the pitch for all 3 days (bar about 8 balls)in the sweltering heat of Multan. Think I may be off tomorrow (or is it today) lunch time to try to find that most elusive of establishments. A bar with a telly showing the cricket without somebody shouting in your ear 'you want massaaaaaage'.

...how long they last, and how much more damage they do before they're shown the door... Just under 5 yrs based on current chaos ... oh the other bunch ... that could well be true. However that assumes that the current bunch don't manage to get their act at least half together in the nearish future. I suspect they will. Whereas I suspect the Tory party is in for another period of public paroxysm. There was a good and funny article in The Times yesterday about how Cleverly lost the nomination. Amongst some of the gems were: “The party’s screwed,” they said [referring to a Tory MP]. “The public will look at us at the next election and think, ‘These people haven’t learnt a thing’. But we’ll probably be doing this again in 18 months anyway.”and from another: “If Jenrick wins then we’re going to see a repeat of IDS — [Iain Duncan Smith who became Tory leader in 2001 but was ousted two years later]. He can’t out-Farage Farage and will make the party look mad to everyone else.”Also this from the other side: But after Badenoch and Jenrick had their place in the final confirmed, a Labour MP joked: “I wonder if we’ll have to declare this as a gift.”
