It's not so silly having men working in care, there is a lot of heavy lifting, helping people up, moving from bed to wheelchair, to bathroom. Men can be empathic as well and many men would prefer to be cared for by men rather than women. That's a bit sexist isn't it ? Women do lift and move patients all the time, my mother spent half her life lifting heavy patients in hospitals. Why wouldn't men be equally capable of working in care?

Oh, its just it was you that mentioned heavy lifting in the context of potentially more men coming into the service. As an aside, do you think there are no differences between men and women ?

Of course there are differences between men and women. Which of them do you think even vaguely relevant to employment in just about any field? Are there any non-physical differences in your view ?

I'm a very fit 5'10' 74 yearold . I own 25 acres of garden and woodland. I've worked along a side similar heightmen all my life . In level of fitness,we can be equal . Strength:they have the advantage because of their muscle .
We lift weights from differing standpoints .
Women can endure longer because of body fat but they slowdown earlier to conserve strength.
Men get upset more easily than women.
I could go on.................

IIRC there's a famous one mapping the (inversely proportional) correlation of returns to testosterone. 2 more recent articles from different research sources here (includes impact of emotional regulation). www.forbes.com/sites/timmaurer/2023/04/30/why-women-are-better-investors-than-men/www.charles-stanley.co.uk/insights/commentary/are-women-better-investors-than-men

Across an entire population-level breadth of individuals? None relevant, no. So, which do you think are?

One you missed, but I would add: women are lovely, far nicer than men in most respects.

One you missed, but I would add: women are lovely, far nicer than men in most respects. Suggesting that women natter and gossip more than men is a highly sexist position to take. Men and women are identical in everything apart from procreation. Both feel pleasure and pain, both can be artistic, both can prefer long hair or short hair, both can enjoy wearing jewellery, both can like putting makeup on, both can enjoy looking after young children, both can enjoy building large collections of shoes, both can have off days once per month, both can enjoy the attention of the opposite or same sex, both can enjoy driving, both can enjoy driving large vehicles such as diggers, both can enjoy several pints of beer, both can enjoy a glass of wine or two, both can be agreeable, both can be caring, both can be assertive and on and on and on.... So there we have it. They are identical and these traits, habit's and physical attributes have zero impact on their ability to work in any paid job. Nor should any consideration for the amount of time future children spend with their mum or dad. Women rightly should be discouraged from thinking about bearing children so they can properly compete with men throughout their careers. The same financial freedom as men. Edit: Oh and I forgot to mention how does the population of the prison system break down by gender and type of crime? Might explain why some parents breath a sigh of relief when knowing their little one is going to be taken care of by a woman rather than a man. But we're all the same.....

Women dominate massively as nursery nurses/in preschool jobs and as dental hygienists. Over 90%. Ditto men as computer hardware engineers and network architects/engineers. As a retiree from the latter profession, I know for a fact the fastest way on Earth to lose any woman’s interest is to start talking address classes and subnet masks… instant eye-glazing guaranteed! Generically, both sexes ought to be equally capable of either type of work, so I can only think that personal preference must play a huge part in job selection, per gender. I conclude we are very much not equal in every way, for if we were, by now the numbers above would surely have levelled out.

Or just that's the way societal pressure has historically pushed people? FWIW, my computer science degree course in the late '80s, early '90s was majority female.

If I could go back in time, I might at least visit for Open day. Are you implying it is not majority anymore in your post-secondary education institute?
