Anyway, for properly amusing news... Tommy Two-Nationalities-Waxy-Lemon apparently crowdfunded grifted £87k from his supporters last week towards his defence fund for today's Contempt of Court hearing... during which he pleaded guilty and has been sentenced to 18 months. www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c704eedkqkvoOther charges, including last week's under terrorism legislation, remain outstanding. Given his Canadian immigration offences arrest revealed he has dual UK and Irish nationality, would it not be appropriate for the Home Secretary to deprive him of his UK nationality and deport him on release? Or will the Irish government beat her to it, and remove his Irish passport on the grounds that he lied about his place of birth to obtain it?

So Starmer has said that "...the working people of Britain “know exactly who they are”,". Which is probably just as well, as no one in the Government seems to know. No increases on taxes on your payslip, Does that mean Pensioners private pensions could be subject to NI - Not technically an increase and not working people ( although I d get a payslip ) So VAT could be put on Kids clothes, Private medical treatment, Biscuits, Private jets ( and fuel for same ) Static caravans could all have VAT applied, yes I know the last 2 don't apply to many, Councils could be told a 1 year only 15% increase in council tax increase fuel duty and VED. Over here in Yurp there is VAT on food, books and children's clothes. On the vexed question of aviation fuel, Nonetheless, the country (Netherlands) continued to tax aviation kerosene for pleasure and non-commercial business aviation. In contrast, the remaining European Union countries maintain a tax-free status for commercial aviation fuel. Norway is an exception within Europe, although it is not an EU member.simpleflying.com/aviation-fuel-taxation-guide/So it would not be unprecedented to introduce fuel duties on private jets. Come on Rachel, you wouldn't here people complaining like they did over the winter fuel allowance. Or think outside the box and let pensioners burn kerosene to keep warm.

It was only ever a sanitised version of "for the many, not the few"....with a larger proportion of the population in "the few" than people realised, including a large number that thought they were part of "the many" Based on words spoken by ministers, leaks, murmurings and the most recent ONS report on the effects of taxes and benefits on UK household income, 'working people' seems likely to be a simple proxy term capturing people outside the ONS definitions of 'Retired Households' + top quintile households by mean original income (the 2 rarely overlap). www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulationandcommunity/personalandhouseholdfinances/incomeandwealth/bulletins/theeffectsoftaxesandbenefitsonhouseholdincome/financialyearending2022 We shall see.

Why on earth would anybody voluntarily drive around the city with the worst traffic and best public transport? Best public transport? Are you saying London has the best public transport on this planet or just the Uk? I can’t imagine bus travelling @ 9mph, while trains and tube operates at 90% on target are the best. It’s probably okay just commute with public transport on my own, but going out for other reasons including picking up items at one time only event on the way back, private transport is the prime option for me. At least the car is my portable storage.

Obviously, other countries do it far far better - because many of them invest properly.

No, because good public transport is still infinitely preferable to miserable traffic. (and before anybody points out my location as nowhere near London, I used to live a spit from the M25.)

Our PM confirms £2 bus fare cap will be hiked to £3 ahead of ‘tough’ Budget. But where is the investment to make it better? Will there be less bus services with the price hikes?

Will there be less bus services with the price hikes? the cost above the cap was subsidised, and due to run out, the £3 is a new cap and obviously less costly to the Government.

Meanwhile, this is what the best transport system look like in reality on normal days, five line delays. TfL tells commuters to find alternative routes. 😵💫
No service due to flooding, part closures, severe delays due to late engineer work, delays due to faulty train.

Who are the appointments going to be with if GPs and hospitals have no capacity? I wonder why they specifically include Covid vaccinations are flu (and other) vaccinations automatically included.

The only part of that sentence that I have any faith in is the bit in italics. *"walking out" is a strange euphemism for not getting off your arse and going to work, it strikes me (see what I did there?)
