I suggest halve the members and double the salary and you might get someone useful. Who would get out of bed, risk death by samuri sword and have to work in central London for £85k?
interesting that would mean each MP represented around 225,000 people in Wales with a Population just over 3 Million we have 60 Senedd members, Labour and Plaid claim they are so overworked they need an extra 40 Members so each would represent 30,000. Personally I'd ditch the whole Welsh Assembly I can't see any real benefit, the Cost is astronomical and we have a worse NHS service, and worse education than the UK as a whole. Senedd Members are paid £67,600, the FM gets £148,000 MPs are Paid £84,000 The Prime minister gets £164,800 IMHO the Welsh and Scottish Parliaments are vastly overpaid

But genie is out of the bottle on that one. The Northern Irish one agrees on very little, except the need to take women's rights and is a farce.
I have seen criminal governments in other countries and if any of you think our people are criminals then 1) they lack ambition 2) you lack imagination. At least if they earned £150k we would get a better class and competence of crooks.
The one good thing the UK has is it limits expenditure on campaigning and, following Breaksit we should ban referendum as Russia paid for it.

Or it could pretend to have rules, but if you break them just say you didn't know, sorry etc. and don't do it again. Of course, you can do this again as often as you like without penalty because we must only care about the illusion of respectability. Rules remain intact throughout so that's a relief. But seriously, there's been no ministerial code in operation for a while now. Look who's left if we take out the liars, coke-heads and backhander recipients....how many do we have left....not enough for a decent karaoke session that's for sure!

The motor racing mogul Bernie Ecclestone has been arrested in Brazil for illegally taking a gun on board a private plane....
So [91 year old] Bernie, is that a gun in your luggage or are you just pleased to be sitting next to your 45 year old Brazilian wife Fabiana ? Still, reports also add that his 'weapon' was small enough to fit into the palm of a hand, so maybe appropriate under the circumstances.
The report also reminded me that the former dominant player in F1 also has a 2 year old kid. Yes you read that correctly. This is not something I like to be reminded of and certainly not think about. So Fabiana, you 45 year old leggy Brazilian bombshell, what first attracted you to the 91 year old wizened multi billionaire with the small weapon that can fit in the palm of a hand ?

I honestly don't think this culture has developed since Boris took over, I think it's ingrained ( I'm not saying Boris shouldn't have clamped down ) Do you think it'd have happened under Theresa May? I really, really don't. Well...I had a friend who worked in the civil service at about that time (Theresa May) and he said the hard core opened a bottle of whisky on a Friday afternoon and threw away the cap to show they were going to drink it all. Not illegal but not exactly a glowing representation of civil service culture at the time.
