how many reading this thread do or have used Avro and what is your feedback ? I was with them a few changes back, I have constantly moved supplier at the end of (or usually a month before) contracts end. I am currently with Pure Planet No memorable problems with them, or indeed any I have been with. However I very much suspect you only really know how good a company is when you do have a problem.

how many reading this thread do or have used Avro and what is your feedback ? well I'm trying to get a quote from Avro energy, and I can't get past the 'Find Address' box. Makes me wonder whether they have put quoting on hold due to an imminent price change (I've tried two different browsers on two different devices to try and rule out cookies/cache etc). Bu****r

Bu****r For my quote, 60% gas, 40% elec dual fuel, MSE cheap energy club is currently showing Avro to be roughly 10% dearer than bulb or octopus amongst others. I don't know if Bulb has just increased its prices or is just about to.

It is of course rising electricity + gas + standing charge costs.
This is more acute than I realised so I would expect to OFGEM to step in here at some point or it's going to be a hard winter for those in fuel poverty.
Quick comparison between the current Bulb tariff and my existing EDF tariff - gas cost is up 41% and electricity cost is up 36%, gas standing charge is up 42%, electricity standing charge is up 15%.
EDF picked up ALL THE CUSTOMERS from GNE for nowt, provided a similar tariff for 6 months and now their cheapest tariff for me is £360 DEARER than the already more expensive Bulb tariff. That is a disgrace OFGEM.
The cheapest tariff I can get is £40 cheaper than Bulb, not worth the jump into the dark.
Is there a need to increase standing charges when fuel costs increase ?
Have you noticed how prices go up at the end of summer, never the end of winter ?

Yes, all the better deals currently are variable, but that is at their current rates. 24 hours ago the only deal cheaper than what I have (but won't have from Oct 1st) was a variable rate giving a saving of about £5 a year, and all the rest were more expensive. I'm now heading back to the Fixed club again, as I suspect it won't be long before the bulk of the other variable rates change as well, given that OFGEM is/has lifted the price cap. What we are seeing is I think what one would expect to be happening. In the lead up to OFGEM raising the cap, the suppliers and commentators were basically saying that the then level of the cap was killing the competitive aspect of the market: the cap was too low given the current state of wholesale prices, and basically the variable rates were all very close to the cap and were generally better than the available fixed rates. I suspect with the price cap being substantially raised we are going to see that position change. Anyway, for better or worse, a switch to Avro is now underway - now that their website has stopped playing hooky and has now been able to confirm the existence of my house.

Before P2P, savers put a guinea in a piggy bank, now they smash the banks to become guinea pigs.

I seem to remember that prices were set to go up at the same time last year but then Shell Energy suddenly offered a one year fixed rate plan called Nov 2021. Gas is 2.668p /kwh Standing Charge 11.20 per day. Hopefully, something similar happens again this year, otherwise I'm looking at a huge rise.

Ummm, scratches head: supply/demand curve with imminent significant increase in demand from the northern hemisphere ? Just a thought...

seems Im staying put with bulb then. There is an option for me to fix but its an additional £4 per month, that on top of the recent charge is a bitter pill to swallow. Bit of a gamble then , tbh I dont know how some folk manage with ever increasing costs which are far outweighing wage rises(unless you are a lorry driver).

Sorry scrub that.... just looked at the trustpilot reviews I have seen the reviews as well. I have been with them since Dec20 - not had a problem all on line. Took a bit of head scratching to work out the billing. Put reading in every month - bill appears as expected. I haven't had any problems but then again I am prepared to have some at the price!
