Was getting bored this morning so decided to have a chat with a lady with an Indian accent from Microsoft, who rang up to warn me that my computer had been hacked. I tried explaining that if there was a fault with windows then Microsoft would issue a security patch, as it wasn't practical to contact all 400m windows users to correct the problem indvidually. Undeterred, she claimed it wasn't a windows fault, but couldn't explain why microsoft was involved in correcting problems with other people's products.
At least it kept me busy until the cricket started.

I've never been that bored but if I was it would brief and hostile! I wish I could do it and waste their time but as someone once told me after an unsucessful interview, "you've never been able to play the game to get on, have you?". No.
Jim Browning is a famous reverse scammer if you like watching or listening to these vermin getting some of their own medicine.

Text at 6AM this morning from "DPD" saying they tried to deliver a parcel but I didn't answer the doorbell, they can't redeliver until I pay the fee as the sender didn't didn't pay the full postage.
The website looks like DPD and uses DPD logo but it says at the bottom "In case you don't pay the fee item will be returned to sender on 29 August"

I've been tempted to string phone scammers along, but am unable to restrain my temper for more than 30 seconds.

Also, bogus adverts for desirable rental property where they ask for the deposit before doing the viewing. Very simple criminal ingenuity.

LOL you do have the opposite with properties, saw one locally where couple who moved in before Christmas being evicted, Police in attendance and the occupants were using the you can't come in we have vulnerable people in the property etc etc argument . When the "lady" of the house to one policemen that they had "a right to enjoy their home without harassment" the Policeman just looked at her and said " I would agree if you had paid any rent in the last 9 months or attended court to explain why not".

So what happens if the owner of the driveway parks their car behind the offender and blocks them in?

Santander??? So the criminals have managed to access her phone, banking phone app and figure out her bank card pin.
Nowadays your phone is a bigger security risk than your bank cards. Don't use the same pin for the banking app and your cards, I imagine this is very common.

She must have used the same pin for the Gym locker! One PIN for all her apple pay, bank card, phone lock etc.

Some weeks ago, I might have mentioned a spate of scam emails appearing in my spam folder. These were from the same address, which I blocked. This happened several times. Just looked again at my spam box, and within 36 hours 15 more spams had appeared from half-a-dozen email addresses, all starting with 13361717, relating to, for example, "did your receive your parcel", "skin-tag removal" and "injured by herbicidal roundup". Some of these recur more than once - or twice.
I appreciate that it's simple to churn these out to a group of email addresses, but surely nearly everyone would quickly get suspicious about the similarity of sender addresses and subjects. Of course, it takes just two or three gullible souls to fall for the scams to make it worth the perpetrators' while.
