Still bitter about political betting having backed Rishi to replace BJ as Prime Minister for years only to be ROBBED at the last hurdle by Liz Truss's 49 day interruption! Edit: Paddy Power has Angela Rayner 16/1 to be next Labour Leader.... What are the odds Angela Rayner convicted of tax evasion?

Diane Abbott in from the cold maybe just in time to save the Tories from a humiliating defeat. Cabinet prospect ? The tabloid chiefs are buzzing.

For 2 days ... after that looks like she's gone ... conciliation peerage to follow? if you were heading up a Labour Govt, would you want Dianne Abbot in the Lords wearing a Labour badge ? Would seem like an avoidable own goal, frankly. Which is not to say it won't happen: the last 10 years have seen plenty of political own goals from all sides.

And no charges for Angela Rayner. Police say it's not a matter for them and have referred it to HMRC, I assume HMRC will look at it and if appropriate send a bill ( and interest ) of if they think appropriate institute proceedings. Love the fact that Plaid Cymru have said what they will do if they form a Government, at most they may get 40 seats or around 6% of seats if that happens you'd need Tories, Labour, Lib Dems and SNP all on less than 40 so that would total 200 of the 650 seats so you'd have 450 seats for Reform, Greens, SWP, independents etc.

No explanation of course as to why no action, so its not exactly a full exoneration just not a strong enough case. She has other problems as she is in a potential marginal due to a significant Muslim vote that will be a factor due to Gaza, Galloway targeting the seat.

Oh dear, if ever there was a reason not to vote for them ... perhaps he's had another lapse of judgment labour.org.uk/updates/stories/more-than-120-business-leaders-back-labour-as-party-of-change/Seems to be getting taken apart by Tories, as a lot of lobbyists, ex-ceo or dormant companies, no FTSE 100 & apparently a bloke claiming to be a professor due to an honorary degree from Uzbekistan who was rejected as a Tory candidate No idea on the veracity of any of that

IF her local constituency continue to want her as their candidate I've no problem with her being in the Labour Party as an MP. It is good if the parties are "broad churches" although it might be pretty scary if people like her had formed a government - thankfully no chance of that.
I also think it is highly opportunistic (by Starmer and others) for her to have been removed in the first place. What she said is probably true. I agree Black people typically suffer more in the lives from racism than jewish people although that might sadly change if the popular press keeps up its pro-jewish anti-muslim agenda. Before all this started, most people couldn't likely distinguish between a jewish person and a non-jew on our streets - it was just such a none issue. But not anymore unless this storm dies down.

Not sure they have the choice ... due to the surprise election announcement candidate selection seems to be in the hands of the NEC. The cut off was 12pm 28th so she may not have been eligible as she was suspended at that point (despite it appears having complied with the requirements imposed on her several months ago). Assuming that Flipflop statements today contain some truth (subject to wind direction), it's possible she is still being considered as the potential candidate Her statement was crass (height of folly to speculate about what others face, as if its a competition) but the handling was equally stupid. labour.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Emergency-Selection-Procedures-for-Parliamentary-candidates.pdf

If I remember correctly, I didn’t vote for her in 2019. Anyway, I was surprised by her response dealing an issue against the most profitable property developer in Britain. I thought she would not care about leaseholders.
Now I don’t think she would appear on my choice of my ballot paper in the coming election.
