Popularity waning then only 70% of the vote in 2019, down from 75% 😆 Vulnerable to the surging Green Party, you think? Diane Abbott Labour 39,972 70.3% -4.8% Ben Obese-Jecty Conservative 6,784 11.9% -0.7% Alex Armitage Green Party 4,989 8.8% +4.1% Ben Mathis Liberal Democrat 4,283 7.5% +0.8%

More trouble for Starmer

There is one week left until nominations close - barely enough time for a second class letter sent yesterday

They have to be hand delivered to the Returning Officer & only by a few select people , unless you are abroad when you can use email, along with £500 in cash, though at their discretion they can take card or BACS.

Turning into a shambles - now the constituency selected Labour candidate for Chingford has been blocked from standing. (usual twitter issue)
Member of the NEC has had a pop at Keir for hiding behind the NEC when the Diane decision is down to the leadership as leadership has majority on NEC. Also as she had complied with the requirements for readmittance months ago, it was the leadership, primarily the Chief Whip's, call for several months. Diane selected by constituency apparently so Im guessing already nominated provisionally so cut-off perhaps not relevant.
Keir is out campaigning with Welsh leader, presumably because he is under scrutiny & faces a possible no confidence vote so can act as a distraction.

Well it appears she is in ... Labour candidate for Hackney will be Diane Abbott Meanwhile, radio presenter Ian Dale, who quit to try & become Tory candidate for Tunbridge Wells has withdrawn after comments slagging the town off emerge ... perhaps the fastest candidacy ever Dale said he had been living in Tunbridge Wells “slightly against my will”; that he “never liked the place” and would “happily live somewhere else”. "Now, I instantly recognised the problems with that" - seems too intelligent to be an MP given the number who dont seem to realise the problem with far more significant issues www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/uk-politics-69078711Wonder if hell try for somewhere he hasnt slagged off instead

Well, even if she appears back on the ballot paper as one of the choices as candidate, I won’t see her name on the card again for post code reason in the coming general election.

St Nige of the Farridge to make an "emergency" election announcement at 4pm. Hold the front page! Hold your breath! Hold your pint and packet of fags!
Place bets on him deciding that tying himself to the convict-in-chief was a bit hasty, and he WILL be standing for RefUK after all, in a cherry-picked seat that they think they can't possibly lose (Tice has already nabbed the candidacy for Boston and Smegvegas). Humiliating loss number 8 incoming.

Humiliating loss number 8 incoming. He's back. Standing in Clacton and taking over the reigns of Reform. Nothing to do with Trump though...so many young people allegedly felt let down by his not standing and he just felt really guilty about it. In his own words "I've don't it before and I'm going to do it again"

Obscurity. Uh-huh. We believe you, Nige. Clackers is, of course, the constituency that Carswell held when he defected from the Tories to become a kipper in 2014. He held it in 2015, spat the dummy after a tantrum with St Nige and became an indie for a few months, then the Tories won it back in 2017 (the kipper came third and nearly lost his deposit).

Don't you want the Tory vote split Adrian? Incidentally, I note the Labour party candidate is young, Cambridge educated and from an ethnic minority. Quite a common demographic for Labour. The person I used to know very well many, many years ago is from a similar demographic. I thought Labour was supposed to largely represent the working class. I suspect it will make Farage's job that little bit easier. In fact the good news is it looks almost certain for soon-to-be-Lord Farage to be the MP. www.betfair.com/exchange/plus/politics/market/1.229452240

Don't you want the Tory vote split Adrian? Well, Clackers is massively unlikely to go any way except right or far-right - so my only interest is in the comedy value of watching St Nige fall flat on his arse yet again. Mind you, if he actually got the job, it might be amusing to watch him realise that he now has to do some work for his constituents from the backbenches. He won't, of course.

Probably a little, which would be a sight more than my sitting MP, who to be honest is mostly interested in getting photo opportunities
