I spotted today my local council has a line in the budget £40,000 for maintenance of christmas lights ( Now I guess that includes putting them up and taking them down and storage ) but there are 10-12 strings across the main street and 8 that project from lamp posts on my street, £40,000 a year is ridiculous And this council that was paying, wait for it, £250,000 per pupil per anum to stay at this residential special school. Obviously that wasn't the main purpose of the article - it almost got lost but didn't someone in the council think that might be a bit much? www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-63792458Isn't your daughter attending an expensive special school? I'm really surprised you are criticising apparently good provision in this area. Maybe these children need really intensive care in a residential, expensive environment.

Good job you don't work in the council I assume? 6 or 7k is what you would expect a council to pay for a normal primary school. £50K will get you an all singing, all dancing school with 121 ratios and all the treatments you can think of. From memory the large public schools such as Eton and Winchester are similar. 250K is ridiculous and should have rang alarm bells.

A tired highways operative explained to a massed meeting in my village hall that the potholes were not repaired because 89% of the annual budget was earmarked for the Youth and Elderly . Tant pis!

No need to rely on memory; for Eton£15,432 per half-term = £92,592 per academic year plus extras - an EC activity lasting 60mins per week is around £4k per academic year plus registration and acceptance fees plus uniforms plus ... plus ... Cost £50k to keep an average prisoner banged up for a year. (No real reason to mention that other than I thought it an interesting comparison )

£250,000 per child per year £5000 a week
and they were paying carers £10 per hour even at 1 carer per child that's still only £2000 a week.

Repairing pot holes is a bit of a fire fighting exercise. In an ideal world they would cut the sides back to solid tarmac and repair them properly. However, it is far quicker and cheaper to just put a bucket of tarmac into the hole and pat it down. End result is that you'll be back in a couple of years to repair it again.

How good it would be if the pot holes were filled in and lasted 2 years, the pot holes round us are (FIXED that is not the right word) about every six months and then only if they are a certain depth

Tant pis! most pot holes are not repaired because they are not reported and most councils don't employ people to look for them, repairs are dirt cheap and easy to do, but if people don't tell the council then nothing happens

So we're looking at 40 odd grand as I said. Unless you work for the council and believe uniforms cost 200 grand every year....<rolls eyes>

Wait, there's no vacancy for Children's service @ Hesxxx Group. They are specialised for children with austism, learning disability and COMPLEX needs.
Learning outcomes
According to Ofsted, annual fees for Ivy Lane (day pupils) is 80k (2021), No stats on number of graduates gained independence, but it has ofsted "good" rating. No idea where Chloe worked. Number of pupils @ Ivy Lane according to Ofsted report: 5, opened and registered in 2021

I hope you will forgive me for not being so gracious when someone rubbishes what I've said based on entirely false information.
