Now the real question, would GC investigate voters like us to bet against the majority? 🤣 Let’s say I’m in a Reform UK stronghold constituent and place a bet against Reform UK, would GC and electoral commission cancel my vote and bet as well? There's a world of difference between Joe Public betting, and somebody "on the inside". The members of the PM's inner office (including police) and the central party machinery. They're betting on something they KNOW the answer to. Straightforward fraud. The candidate who bet against himself. He's betting on something he can heavily influence through his own (in)action. No different to a jockey or footballer betting against their horse/team. When the bet is won, was it because they deliberately threw the race/match/election?

If you got together with several thousand mates and all decided to change your votes and then placed a huge bet on the outcome it might look a bit dodgy, not sure it would be illegal, conspiring to pervert the course of a democratic vote? But persuading people to change their votes with bribery is the whole point of electioneering really. Maybe they should just ban voting on the outcome of elections.

With several thousand of mates? I think it’s probably better and democratic gesture than casting a blank vote imho where winning candidate is like “Sod Off” in “Dunny-on-the-wold”

Not sure if GC like the idea to ban gambling, there would be jobless for them. Casinos, bingo halls, slots amusement and betting shops, the phone in competition and the lottery, raffle tickets would disappeared in the uk
TBH, there’s a slim chance a new game called “election bets” may appear on the slot machines, or even a horse “I bet on myself in the election ” in Glorious Goodwood. 🤣🤣🤣

I have to disagree. The real gambling already exists in many forms not regulated. For example, buying “gems” in games. Addiction exists and game developers doesn’t give a damn about giving a decent return for paying customers. Some spent lots of moneys on gems without getting anything they want.
disclaimer: I haven’t spent money on “items” in game which gives a random outcome, nor any “in-game-purchase”

Yet another decision by the press to decide to tell us what is important and what isn't. So what if an MP has a flutter. I would say its only a serious issue, if he or she stood to gain many thousands and/or took steps to conceal it. Insider information like date of election does not set a good example but if gambling commission rules haven't been broken then presumably they haven't been cheating like that. In other words lets distinguish between having a flutter and cheating. Hes bet on an outcome which he himself can directly influence ... therefore by definition has inside knowledge. No different to a footballer betting on scoring an own goal. Trust me, I've listened to this pillock. There is absolutely nothing he would have had to "directly influence" to ensure he lost.

We still don’t know what exactly his bet is, how much would the “charity” gets. At least he would feel better even if he didn’t win the election. He definitely likes to bet.

I like this confession.
Funny thing is, unlike the FA, the electoral commission have not taken any actions yet.
I am also pretty sure current opposition leader doesn’t mind people betting big on him to win the election to show their confidence. 🤣🤣🤣
So, has GC handpicked the headline first for a reason? picking those related to Conservatives bets rather than other people’s bets first? Imagine if it was labours candidate bet being investigated first?
Also, has GC investigated themselves regarding placing “inappropriate” bets?

Yet another decision by the press to decide to tell us what is important and what isn't. Had they not reported it you'd be complaining about BBC anti-Tory bias. surely not ?!
