I'm getting one just to get a free isolator switch install. Anyone had a smart meter which didn't include the switch ? isolator switch? Sits between the meter and consumer unit to make future consumer unit upgrades safer. Maybe the correct term is "isolation switch" not sure.

It's definitely not the default to have an isolator switch, but one before the meter would let you turn the power off to the meter and force a reboot of the comms hub etc which can cure a lot of issue with smart meters

It's definitely not the default to have an isolator switch, but one before the meter would let you turn the power off to the meter and force a reboot of the comms hub etc which can cure a lot of issue with smart meters I think they go in _after_ the meter but could be wrong.

Is it something thats suddenly become a problem? or have you lived with it in your house for donkeys years.... maybe its something that makes you feel more environmentally friendly.

I do a lot of development and would find such a thing useful - that's all I'll say publicly

I'm afraid the jokes on you martin44. The smart meter IS the actual meter that's connected to your gas/electric supply. The gadget in your house is just a window into the smart meter's soul, known as the IHD (in house display).

Having been through something very similar with EON on my own account and my parents account and spending alot of time trying to get them to act and create bills, i will never do this again. They can't back charge you for more than a year, i would let them contact me when they are ready. If they decide to bill you after 11 months for instance slap them with an invoice of your own for time spent, stress and incompetence on their part.
The gas meter will probably never work as a smart meter if it is not next to the electric meter.
