20 sq meter of wood in stack , all exterior creosoting done, chimney swept, hedges cut, hinges locks oiled , feeling good here. Except ,front brake pipes to replace on decrepit old merc vaneo. Keep finding other things to do , hence jobs done above. Got till Jan 5 the mot , hate working on cars and it needs to be done while weather good, but any luck and I will find anything just anything to put the job off .

You've certainly been busy. I'm miles behind , I'm trying to drum up enthusiasm to swap put the ns strut this weekend. No doubt I will find drop link worn and top mount . The worst bit is getting up and down for tools that I've forgotten I also needed. I hate working on vehicles but i also hate paying someone else to do it lol. Should really take a week off and get on with it all .

Slight thread stretch, but I'm thinking of doing up the house with Emperor/ProPerla masonry system - it's expensive but the idea of heat-loss reduction and self-cleaning walls has quite some appeal. I'll be playing with my samples over the weekend but if anyone's used it I'd be grateful for any advice.

self cleaning walls? now ive heard it all. Sounds like a challenge ... wonder if they do zoos ๐ Hilarious. But it *would* probably work in zoos ...nothing sticks or absorbs into it! I am more interested in the heat-retaining properties (also known as external insulation paint) but I can't lie, it appeals to my lazy streak too. Used to be a trade only thing (under ProPerla) but now sold to retail as Emperor. The whole system is a bit expensive but supposed to be fabulous! emperorpaint.co.uk/energy-efficiency

Car repaired. Always better when attempting with fresh eyes. A wad of cash and a day saved at garage. Might even wash it this year๐

Congratulations on getting started. Enjoy the cider, gives the penetrating oil time to do its thing๐

The whole system is a bit expensive but supposed to be fabulous! emperorpaint.co.uk/energy-efficiencyHi also very interested in this or a similar product, being lazy have you or anybody got info on similar products for comparison. I couldn't find anything equivalent...it's a super-hydrophobic system and pretty specific. Since last post I have actually used it on about 20 m2 of brick (facade coating routine) and looking at another 30 m2 in the next week or so with the invisible cream top half then facade coating again on bottom half. I've got exterior building/repair work starting so and won't touch those areas yet but great so far and doing as much as I can before the weather breaks. Emperor do testers for the facade coating, cream, textured base coat and colour cards with paint on to test the hydrophobicity if you're interested. I'll do the textured stuff after render repairs then will have used the whole range. Good for me as I've low-quality brickwork, high shaded parts which get little sun, lots of microbial growth from lingering moisture (& efflorescence) and related surface deterioration. As usual, bulk of work was on prep - repointing, resealing windows, cleaning etc but doing it as a 2-person team was OK and it's supposed to last 25 years. Happy to answer any questions if I can.
