Sharing one bathroom with 4+ people isn’t great. That's a great example of how our expectations have massively changed in the last decade or two. Again, expectations of modern life... We have a mixed recycle wheelybin, and a landfill* wheelybin - each 240L - for two people, collected on alternate weeks, and we compost at home. The recycle is usually close to full every fortnight, but we could easily compact it better if needed. Or we could request a 360L bin. My mother has a 360L for one person, due to the number of people in the property before she moved in. They won't swap for smaller, but will for larger. I think I might just swap ours for hers... The landfill* is about 1/4 full every fortnight at best. (The "landfill" is actually burnt for electricity generation - www.severnwaste.com/recovery/)

We can't recycle thin plastic from home So I put all the stuff I get in a big bag and take it to the tip when I take other stuff, obviously I recycle a lot of Bubble wrap, packing "peanuts" etc.
had some stuff for the tip this week, what a waste, The company that took glass is now charging so glass goes in general, Ironically they still have bottle banks... The Company that took thin plastic (bread wrappers bubble wrap, cling film type stuff ) is now charging so that now goes in general, and of course general waste is landfill.
So we separate recycling and some get chucked in landfill hardly green is it

I thought the same was also true of Sainsburys.

Local Tesco stopped doing it because it was getting filled with litter, not just the plastics but Paper, drink cups all sorts, not seen one in sainsburys will ask when I'm in, or I could try the slightly more distant Tesco
