...and can I log in to the HMRC accounts? I cannot.
I've changed phone since last year, and the Google Auth account doesn't seem to have the HMRC auth in. I still have my old phone... but that doesn't, either. Probably because I wiped and reinstalled it since last year, before replacing it.
So... prove ID using passport/drivinglicence/last year's SA... Nope. "Details wrong". 4 out of 5 attempts used.
Can't even log a support request to help me get in, because the service is down. Which, of course, may be why it doesn't work in the first place.
<sigh> Why do I leave it until so late? This is actually early by my standards...

Is the chat service not an option? - www.tax.service.gov.uk/ask-hmrc/chat/self-assessment

let me check ... tried and got a code sent and was able to login but yes one issue is that you get a code sent to your phone even if you want to login to change the phone, presumably if your phone has been destroyed you need to contact then by phone to associate a different number, I did do mine last week and paid I hate paying tax bills but it's a necessary evil if I want to run a business. Will do it much earlier next year as I want then to have early sight of my class 2 NI payments for this year as I turn 66 in February next year and want the amount on my account before they do calculations of my state pension.

"Find your user ID by searching 'Government Gateway user ID' in your email inbox and any folders you’ve created. Then you can reset your password (opens in a new tab).
If you cannot find your user ID, follow the guidance to recover your user ID and reset your password (opens in a new tab)."
I have both user ID and password. I cannot do the 2FA.

I was having trouble to file online back in October, so I sent a tracked mail and got a reply in December. They fixed the online filing and issued Tax statement.
Back in July, I was told no staff would deal with any issue until September.

The chatbot came through. Well, kinda. I gave up on trying to explain the issue in different ways and just entered "I want to speak to a human". It worked. They transferred me to a queue for another human. They played 200 questions with me, and reset the 2FA. Now just to go through the same procedure again, but pretending I'm herself, because obvs they can't do it for somebody else... <sigh> Thanks, iRobot

Fortunately, the online reset worked for her...

That must have been so stressful. I'm glad you got it sorted.

Has the bit where you put P2P earnings changed? It used to be under 'Interest from gilt edged and other UK securities, deeply discounted securities and accrued income profits' but I didn't get that box to tick this year. I didn't get any earnings after deducting losses, so it's no biggie. I can put the figures in the 'other info' just to keep them happy.

That is what I have done. It isn't clear whether that is correct but my P2P recoveries were well within the £1k savings allowance, so I hope that will do.
Sadly, I think that is all that FC will ever stump up so it will be down to whatever Halifax can come up with for this tax year!

I consider myself to be reasonably knowledgeable about the tax system having been a 40% taxpayer for donkeys but I could only tell you what "interest from gilt edged stock" means. The rest of it just goes straight over my head. A tax system designed for the era of George IV is struggling to cope with the 21st century! Doesn't it make you proud to be British?

No, section is there, did you tick the Other UK Income box when tailoring your return?

Saw that over 3 million people still to complete and submit tax returns. According to HMRC 12 million people have to do a tax return so 25% haven't submitted with < a week to go.
Must do mine earlier next year as I want to get it in so it doesn't complicate issues with my state pension

And I bet they'll all be moaning when their last minute submission causes the HMRC web site to crash.
