www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/ce38n4egqwztMike Lynch a UK entrepreneur missing the same Mike Lynch who recently beat criminal charges in the US , he said at the time the only reason he was acquitted was because he was wealthy and could afford good lawyers almost makes one wonder if this was revenge or maybe someone here caused it p2pindependentforum.com/post/497366/thread given the vessel is called "Bayesian"

almost makes one wonder if this was revenge That's quite the conspiracy theory... Let's give 'em at least a day to figure out the cause first, eh?

I was intrigued about "Bayesian" too, but reading that his firm had specialised in statistical-based software for his client companies, the name of the vessel (which I assume was his) would fit.

So Mike Lynch's co-defendant in this multi-$billion US fraud trial died yesterday after being struck by a car on Saturday. Mike Lynch himself goes missing in tragic circumstances on the very same day, after his (wife's) yacht sinks. Another pure coincidence for which the odds must have been incredibly small, but nevertheless still finite. They crop up surprisingly often.

Caption of the yacht said “ We didn’t see it coming”. Does this super yacht have any kind of warning system? Did he “see” any warning or got distracted?

million to 1 shots always come up 11,234 to 1 shots never What's the relevance of that figure, where does it come from? This case is reminiscent of that murder in the Alps mystery from 2012, where the estranged husband of the wife murdered just happened to die of a heart attack in America on the very same day. I did some rough, back of an envelope, calculations yesterday. Given the age of the two men in this latest case, they each had a life expectancy of ~10,000 - 12,000 days ahead of them, broadly speaking. An actuary would be more accurate here, but (in the simplest, uniform distribution - which is far from the case) the odds of both dying on the same day would be somewhere around 1 in 11,000. But the probability of both dying so early in life must surely be much lower. Perhaps somewhere closer to 1 in 50,000 or 1 in 100,000, as a very 'wet finger in the air'? So I'm intrigued as to who's mentioned 11,234 and how it was derived.

This millionaire boating accident is much much more believable than finding Maxwell's body by just steering a reciprical course and finding it after a few hours.

So Mike Lynch's co-defendant in this multi-$billion US fraud trial died yesterday after being struck by a car on Saturday. Not terribly suspicious. He was out jogging, and was hit by a car. The driver was a middle-aged local woman who stayed on the scene and is helping police with their enquiries. Coincidences aren't conspiracies. Also - given that the others missing on the yacht include a senior partner in one of the biggest global law firms and the president of a very major global bank... that'd be some serious collateral damage.

I don’t know what theories you are thinking. I see it the captain and the tycoon did not use Bayesian Inference tools predicting the tragedy would happen.

This millionaire boating accident is much much more believable than finding Maxwell's body by just steering a reciprical course and finding it after a few hours. That was unbelieveable 1) Bodies in water are notoriously hard to spot 2) lets say they were sailing at 90 degrees they do a 180 turn and sail back at 90 degrees unless they did some clever steering they would be back tracking parallel by the diameter of the turning circle of the Vessel 3) The Wind and waves and currents if any didn't move the body
