The big question is:
Do I light the fire now, paid for out of my meagre pension, ready for me to watch the Budget?
Or do I wait in the hope that I will be so upset, nay incensed, that my anger keeps me warm, and I won't need to light the fire, hence saving me some pennies?

Just to make your day even brighter, we learn that Ms Reeves has just taken down the portrait of Nigel Lawson on her office wall and replaced it with a picture of the female co-founder of the Communist Party of GB. She intends all her wall pictures to be of or by women only.
We're about to learn how far these sixth-form politics influence her Budget...

I see Farage and Tice have managed to drag themselves away from their daytime jobs to attend the chamber for the budget.

I think this is quite a bit tamer than what I was expecting. Even the CGT doesn't apply to landlords (or any property).
Its certainly no JC budget and she still managed to get 40Gb? Not bad I would say.

Business Property Relief and Agricultural Property Relief changes are significant. A lot of farmers and their children will be reeling. "From April 2026, the first £1m of combined business and agricultural assets will continue to attract no inheritance tax at all but for assets over £1m, inheritance tax will apply with 50% relief, at an effective rate of 20%."

I fell asleep so I might have mis-heard...

Stock market climbing, especially builders and brewers I note that Astra Zeneca snuck out some bad news during the speech!
Down 5% as I type.
On the plus side, it looks as if builders, banks and gaming companies are the beneficiaries. May be some relief at not being hit?

Yes, and who would be a farmer? Maybe this government wants farmers to sell all their land for housing, wind-farms and solar-farms?
I did get the feeling that it was small businesses that were the target of this Budget, which I find a little strange.
Having typed that, I might not have listened to all of the statement and, as usual, a lot of detail will only become apparent over the next few days.

Stock market climbing, especially builders and brewersDid I hear somewhere among the chatter that duty on draught beer has changed to the extent you will now save 1p a pint.
