...... One neat improvement however, might be for it to tell us at a glance what we hold of which loan, either in total or proportionally would do . Whizzo idea: perhaps a dashboard providing real time updates. Or an email notification whenever it changed ? I foresee the need for an additional server farm ... They're flash with recent cash, so what's in a few extra servers, and a real-time dashboard wouldn't be beyond the wit of chris to produce - might need a flashing lights health warning if you invest though. Anyways, it can often sit there quietly doing nothing all day.

A simpler improvement would be to change the CSV download so that it's sortable by loan number. As it stands I'd have to write a Perl script to work out what my GEIA holdings in each loan are, rather than a quick play around with a spreadsheet.

I don't have a GEIA account, but I wouldn't have thought a perl is needed. In LibreOffice cell G2 and copy down
=TRIM(RIGHT(D2,5)) where D is the column with the sales and purchases. Easiest is sort by narrative (column D) first and then delete everything except Sales, Purchases and Principal repayment.
It would be better if the CSV had more fields, but at the moment it is still a very easy task to process. (It will be harder when loan ids might be 4 digit if some of the 2 digit ones haven't repaid yet.)

Oooh, back to 100% invested. I'm not on the right pc with my parsing script(my perl is rusty enough that I wrote my own version, not that I distrust dave but I like to understand enough about a script before I run it on a computer which logs onto financial websites) but the buys seem to be a range of WTs and a well known digester so I suspect my percentages are somewhat more spread than previously. I'll look to confirm. hopefully !

I agree about midnight being the key point. The good news from this perspective is that my account was stable from yesterday afternoon. So yesterday I would still have gained as much interest but the overall diversity improved (although I still have to check the percentages properly).

I've now updated the split based on the shuffle of the 22nd...
112 12.96
106 4.02
125 4.02
90 20.02
160 15.87
93 5.69
145 3
83 2.23
180 30.52
77 1.69
A small amount in on Saturday morning. 100% allocated that day so earning maximum interest, but with 2 loans over 20%. No further shuffling until an interest payment on the 22nd. Several buys and sells later and it was again back to 100% allocated before the end of the day so still maximum interest. The shuffling on the 22nd reduced the worst offending over allocation from over 40% to a little over 30%. Considering the amount of it which is open to be bought in the manual accounts, that's quite interesting. No purchases since.
In summary 100% of possible interest earned, still over allocated but it has improved on the one rejig it's done.

chrisI'm guessing this account has no future - on the basis of my dangling 5k in front of it over the weekend, of which it readily gulped 4k, but has now partially regurgitated, leaving just under 2.5k invested. Reminds me of a labrador I used to know. What someone new to P2P would make of that I just can't imagine. Would you care to comment before I continue the experiment to its logical conclusion and attempt to withdraw the lot?

Revised algorithm will be live in around two weeks time which will be part of a large update. The current algorithm obviously isn't working quite how it should and this update will address that. Please reserve judgement until then.

I might, but would a newbie? If we're still beta testing, surely it shouldn't be 'live' chris?

I might, but would a newbie? If we're still beta testing, surely it shouldn't be 'live' chris? It's working for most in most circumstances. It goes a bit wonky when there's limited supply or when it gets confused about the macro position or gets the diversification strategy wrong. It can't currently trade with other investors to rebalance without listing units for sale and having them bought and there are some timing conflicts in the current code that cause that to go wrong, leading to oscillations and some other wonkiness. There's over £2.5m invested in the account now with only £26k uninvested (due to individual diversification), with it growing at around £100k per week, and it's proven to be a great draw to bring new lenders to the platform. So overall it's been a big success for us and is something we're now rolling out with new accounts. Two new accounts will be launched in August, one before the new coding one after. We expect these to be similarly successful. I don't consider this a beta feature, and a fix for the issue you've experienced is imminent but can't be accelerated as it's tied to several other changes. Equally I can't just pull the feature from the site as that would mean upsetting a lot more investors. Not sure what else I can say.

Well that sounded like an enthusiasts 'apology' for the wayward behaviour of his favourite vintage motor as he crawls out from under it covered in oil - yet again. But I didn't want to buy a lovely old MG, it was meant to be a slick Hybrid Toyota 'shopping trolley'(other makes are available).

Then don't invest in that account if it isn't for you or isn't working how you'd like it to. It's not you only option for investing on the platform and there are other options coming. As I said I'm working on a fix and it'll be with you shortly, but I can't break the laws of physics to deliver that more quickly nor am I about to pull the account from the platform. What else would you have me say or do?
