You know full well everyone will be on holiday... As they have been for the past two months, and no doubt will be for at least another two.
I maybe need to change profession, 4 months off in the summer sounds quite attractive.

That reminds me. My car is due for its MOT before the end of the month.

That reminds me. My car is due for its MOT before the end of the month. Then do it now - if you put it in for the test up to a month before the expiry, the expiry date is preserved - you get up to 13 months on the new ticket. If it fails, the old MOT is still valid until the expiry date, so you're not stuck. Obviously, if it fails on something that's unroadworthy, then it would be illegal to drive even without having taken it in...

Strange, when I worked..
1) response to email in 12 hours meant "I care, I am responsible, this is important to me" even if it was, "I'm working on it leave it with me until...." 2) response outside 12 hours meant "F@@@ off, I really don't care"
do P2P operate in a different environment?

I work on a similar principal, my emails get answered on the same day, at work or not, if I don't answer on the day, i'm likely not to answer at all.... in other words (2)

AIUI any failure makes it illegal to drive even if there is some time left on the old certificate. You cannot legally even drive it away from the test station.

Failing the MOT If your vehicle fails the MOT: you’ll get a ‘refusal of an MOT test certificate’ from the test centre it will be recorded in the MOT database You can appeal the result if you think it’s wrong. Driving a vehicle that’s failed. You can take your vehicle away if your MOT certificate is still valid. If your MOT has run out you can take your vehicle to: have the failed defects fixed a pre-arranged MOT test appointment In both cases, your vehicle still needs to meet the minimum standards of roadworthiness at all times or you can be fined. www.gov.uk/getting-an-mot/after-the-test

...if interested you can drive (and many do), a jalopy on the IOM since there is no MOT equivalent. (Really just wanted an excuse to use the word jalopy since recently discovering it)

Oy, MoneyThing You're not supposed to have "liked" my last post; you'll be instigating encouraging rumours if you're not careful!!

(Really just wanted an excuse to use the word jalopy since recently discovering it) I'm not sure I want to think too much about what that means about your "life experience"

AIUI any failure makes it illegal to drive even if there is some time left on the old certificate. You cannot legally even drive it away from the test station. Nope. If it has a certificate that's not expired yet, then it's got a current, valid MOT - whether it's failed another one or not. If it's unroadworthy, it's illegal to drive - whether you've been told by an MOT man or not. It is explicitly legal to drive a failed vehicle away from a test, or to a place of repair, so long as it's not been flagged to be dangerous to drive - subject to that "unroadworthy" test. If it's illegal to drive away from the test centre because it's unroadworthy, then it was illegal on the way there, too. MoneyThing - there was a rather wonderful little car magazine called "Jalopy" back in the early '90s, specialising in - well, the title gives it away...
