Donning my Mod's hat again -this degree of vituperation is quite uncalled for - it's only a game Andrew! Now throwing that hat off, and playing a precedent set in the late 17th century, I don 'Lord Fartingdon's garter' (the blue one for those not sure) and spring gracefully over Hackney, scooping up bonus points in the process. Not bad for a yokel, eh?

Verney Junction
Haven't seen many trains for a while though. Maybe there's late running engineering works.

Wrong game I'm afraid. But have a banana in compensation.

I know it's not my turn yet and apologies for the interruption but I can't stand by and watch a moderator wield his power by sideswiping a perfectly legitimate move and dancing gayly (possibly a bit too gayly) into the bonus points to boot. CHALLENGE!P.S. if you PM me some of the bonus, I'll withdraw the challenge.

Plus there weren't any bonus points on offer for Hackney, just a requirement for us to go the en-route. We seem to have got even further away from the bonus stop.

Ah the fury...ah the vitriol ... what it is to be competitive...I'll accept my compensatory banana and retire... PS I was going to make four more moves then invoke, with enormous gusto and frustration....O'Shaughnessey's ending (maximum tip).

That should have been disallowed on the grounds of completely unnecessary and gratuitous use of the word "Fosters": plus it breaks forum rules by virtue of a blatant piece of marketing for an Australian lager (other words spring to mind to describe it, but the Capt will probably have more forthright description to hand). However, since we have moved on, it stands, so to speak.

Which means we are back @ Harley Street. Our 30 minutes consultation has cost us half a LTL 7, but we are now fit to move on.

Wrong game I'm afraid. But have a banana in compensation. The English opening seems entirely appropriate in the circumstances to me, although of course it's 1. c4 in modern parlance. But if the moderators are going to be that fussy, how about an early Bf4 London System instead?

If them over the wall decide to go it alone will 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.d4 be known as the Independence Game?

Alas, that was an unfunded pre bid for bonus points on my part, which has not survived the all seeing eye of Sauron, if I can mix my realm metaphors.

Verney Junction Haven't seen many trains for a while though. Indeed. Nice try, but a long walk from anywhere. I feel it is incumbent on me to expand on my earlier ruling on Verney Junction, which might have seemed a bit unfair. Obviously on first pass it would seem to be invalid, but I did consult the Bob Crowe set of Chance Cards (Special Edition no. 3,655, reprint no. 34) for guidance: and apparently good old BC has insisted that Verney Junction remain fully staffed, @ 1968 manning levels. Including a manned at all times ticket office. So that would suggest it should have been allowed. However as the only ticket you can buy is to Verney Junction (single only) it would clearly take us into a bit of a cul de sac.

I'm glad sense and sensibility have prevailed BB - I was just about to draft an appeal to Boris.
