Although an investor on SS for quite a while I have just had an email supposedly from them asking me to send copies of my passport or driving licence plus copies of utility bill, etc.
Unfortunately I am a TalkTalk subscriber. I am therefore a bit concerned that this may be a scam!!
Anyone else received a similar email? Have asked SS to confirm it was their email but no response yet!
Thanks.

I certainly haven't received a request.

I haven't either. I did spot an equifax check on me by Lendy limited a week or so back though, despite being with the, for a while. I'm sure savingstream will comment. Alternatively give them a ring later this morning.

No requests received. I was a talktalk customer up to June 2015. I hope my details were not included in this mess.

Have received a request for copy of passport and utility bill for verification purposes. Requested from other platforms also.

I also received a request and was sufficiently concerned to contact SS by phone and email to clarify. Bad timing considering the Talk Talk debacle although I am not a subscriber.
SS did confirm it was genuine but as a corporate investor they then decided they did not need the information anyway as they could get everything they needed from Companies House.
I'm bombarded by requests from this and that institution to verify, sometimes for the second or third time, information that they already have, all the name of (their interpretation of) compliance!) Progress!!

Although an investor on SS for quite a while I have just had an email supposedly from them asking me to send copies of my passport or driving licence plus copies of utility bill, etc. ... Unfortunately I am a TalkTalk subscriber. I am therefore a bit concerned that this may be a scam!! ... Anyone else received a similar email? Have asked SS to confirm it was their email but no response yet! You've done the right thing by asking savingstream to confirm. If you ever get such an email when it is not expected, phone or email the company using the contact details you already know, not the ones in the email, which may be faked. You can get substantial protection from email scams that improperly request information by using a different address for each company. spamgourmet.com offers an easy to use service for this and I've been using them for around fifteen years. If you get a request claiming to be from SavingStream that is using the email address provided to TalkTalk rather than the one provided to SavingStream that's a giveaway that it is not really from SavingStream.

This is one of the many reasons for reading mail as plain-text, rather than html-formatted. You can see at a glance what the real destination of any link is - if it looks hooky, just go straight to the actual site.
It's usually a very quick setting in your mail client for the rare occasions when something worth reading comes in with no plain-text alternative.

I renewed my talktalk sub for 18 months a few days before the attack. This morning I got a phone call from a foreigner, number withheld, claiming to be from talktalk and wanting me to do something on my computer. I hung up on him. Hope he was not genuine.
BTW I also have one of the dodgy VWs. I hope I have used up all my bad luck on these two and will be spared a p2p loss.

Three guesses... Of course, these kind of scammers don't actually need to have any of the hacked TT details. All they need is your name, phone number and a TT email address - which will be on any one of a dozen different mailing lists...

I often called by people saying there is a problem with some product or account I don't own. I don't use TT, but I won't be surprised if I get a call in the next few weeks from someone claiming to be from them.

It was cocoa tins and lengths of string in my day - and that was at the high tech end
