At LendIt Europe when I mentioned the P2P Independent Forum I was usually met with the comment that members here are a "vocal minority". This may well be true, but in terms of funds invested in peer-to-peer I wanted to try to ascertain how much of a minority or not the members are. Okay peer-to-peer lending
I'm conscious that people may feel uncomfortable voting initially, so the results will not be visible until the end of the month when the poll closes. I'm not aware of any way of linking a vote to a particular user, unless the mods can tell me otherwise.

Great minds think alike. It would be a good comparison to see if people's lending has increased.

My view is that forumites are a vocal minority, and statistically this is clearly true.
However at RateSetter it is recognised that this minority know what they are talking about. Conspiracy theories and nutters aside, the thoughts on the platform are usually a great insight or early warning into the thoughts of the wider public. As a result, feedback here is invaluable to RateSetter even if we don't always act. As sometimes we disagree or commercial decisions need to be made
I've voted. I suspect the average here will be far higher than the average of public P2P users. The RateSetter average reported on the web site say £21,137 - I'll bet the poll results are much higher, even considering people here on average lend with multiple platforms.
Kevin.

Since when were "the aged and bewildered" and "conspiracy theorists and nutters" mutually exclusive?

We're too bewildered to come up with conspiracy theories. Much too complicated. Requires some sort of understanding of whatever the problem is. No chance.

easteregg: while its now a bit late, I think it would be more inciteful if the bands were not based on order of magnitude difference. I think its pretty inevitable that as a result a huge majority are going to fall within two bands. Separately, I think its a bit high handed - and dare I say even discriminatory - to have deliberately excluded a sub set of those who are lending on AC by setting your boundary conditions at whole pence. What about the poor s**s who as a result of lending on AC have a total of e.g. £9,999.99874563451289475663895 invested ? Are they to spend the whole weekend fretting about whether they should lie just so they can participate ? I'm sure there are also many of us intrigued as to the identity of the member who has currently voted in the +£1m category. And in particular whether my own advice in regard to one's behaviour towards HNWIs contained in the following might be in order p2pindependentforum.com/post/3483

Did not realise that it was any different for anyone else. To reassure, I certainly can't see who has voted for what.

Does that not appear on your display?

I would also like to know who has a million plus in P2P. I want to marry them. Gender immaterial. Just a few documents to sign....

Perhaps a separate poll could be useful to determine the exact number of totally confused/whole nutters/part nutters etc, among us all (Or a poll for tomorrow's cake)
