I'm surprised by the amount of activity on the forum for a Friday afternoon. My excuse is I'm currently on holiday in Fuerteventura, but what I want to know is .....
Why aren't you lot at work?

Bus at Nether Wallop taking me to the train was eleven minutes late together with a banana shortage in Peckham, and subsequent traffic congestion everywhere else. Had to go home again.

There's far more to life than work ! (especially 'work' that restricts ones freedom to do what one likes when one likes.)
So far today I've spent part of this morning online (mainly p2p), three hours on a brisk walk in the sunshine along the banks of the Thames, and a bit more now online (again mainly p2p).
I might do a bit of consultancy work for an American client later when he wakes up, or I might find a good film to watch and do the consultancy some other time.
I "retired' from what I regarded as a pointless waste of time (full time employment) earlier this year despite still being relatively young. 8 months on I can say I haven't the slightest regret about that decision.

Ah, work. I remember it well. That which fascinates when observed from a sitting position! A small pleasure, now rendered almost unachievable by recent elevation to the status of 'Gentleman of Leisure'. How does one malinger when daily responsibilities are reduced to reading emails or throwing away the garbage now delivered by Royal Mail? 'Swinging the lead' equates to leaving a dirty plate until morning. Passing the buck.....oh dear, there's nobody to receive it. Is there any hope, any relief from the tedium of retirement? Take heart. Salvation is at hand! Engross yourself in this forum. The search for knowledge, the ramblings and rantings, the words of wisdom! All life is here......well, some of the interesting bits! NB. If you really want to kill some time, try talking to TalkTalk Customer services.

Why aren't you lot at work? Politicians say we should work until we are 70 or so ..... I despise most politicians ...... so in keeping with my outlook on life I'm Rebelling

After many years of self employment I decided to stop working 21 years ago. The plan was to make life more interesting, so while usually keeping a house as a base we have spent the summers on boats and the winters in southern Europe in motorhomes. At 77 years old the house is now in south west France, the boat is in a Spanish marina, but sadly the campingcar has been sold this year as my eyesight is troublesome, so I have stopped driving.
