Back up to £424k now (an hour later) And now down to £172k. What I think we don't know is whether SS released all of the parts not taken by pre-funding at the initial launch, or whether they're still holding onto a large quantity of parts that will be released as and when the number of parts available drops to a very low level.

OK we have just had the first example of the new allocation method.
Difficult to extract anything hard a fast from a sample of one but on past performance most loans seem to have 1000-1500 lenders The new process applies to <£1m so the max allocation is likely to be in the region of Loan Value / 1000 or £1000 which ever is the smaller You are quite likely to get at least LV/1500 Some lenders will have asked for less than that much so that could perhaps boost the allocation a tad.
There is no penalty for asking for more than you want other than if the SM were sudden become stagnant (highly unlikely) from past history.
So if you are hungry, set PF to £1000 and be content to get less knowing it was fairly allocated. If you want less or would be financially embarrased if the SM dried up, use that figure for your PF instead.
