I don't have a link convenient, but I certainly recall discussion of hypothetical future technologies which would make current land-fill sites a valuable source of raw materials, more easily and/or sustainably accessible than extracting or refining them from rocks, crude oil, etc. I'd tend to expect the overall trend to be for the net cost of a clean-up operation to reduce over time, both due to the development of more efficient processing techniques to extract the waste from a site, and also due to better markets for recycled waste that can be extracted.

There doesn't seem to be much activity on the SM considering there is a 1m+ loan being launched shortly. Maybe more people read this forum than we think?

As the "tradition" is to release in the morning and we are now well past that I suspect the pre-funding is well down on this and SS are leaving it as late as possible before they press the "GO" button in the hope that more will come along.
If it is so low that they are concerned the SM may not absorb the overhang it may get pulled.

So I hear:
100% from mikes1531
3 options from boundah: 1. Fully allocated to pre-fund bidders (say 40-50% of requested prefund). 2. Big overhang of non-prefunded loan. 3. SS pull the offer.
(of which I am taking the 40-50%)
30% from me...
Any more for any more??

Before P2P, savers put a guinea in a piggy bank, now they smash the banks to become guinea pigs.

I see this going one of 3 ways: 1. Fully allocated to pre-fund bidders (say 40-50% of requested prefund). 2. Big overhang of non-prefunded loan. 3. SS pull the offer. If history is anything to go by and lenders care not a jot about risk, (1) is the most likely. If a lot of lenders read this forum, (2) is the most likely. If SS are paying attention, (3) is the most likely. 4. SS will come back with enhanced security. First Charge on some liquid assets.

This million quid+ loan is generating less excitement than the Norwegian entry in Eurovision, if SM activity is anything to go by. Maybe people are worrying it will be pulled so they don't want to pre-sell any parts (even antique yachts) lest they get stuck with cash. Last launches everyone was de-yachting good and early, in case the SM got clogged ..
Launch failure may become self fulfilling prophesy .. (I'm still in for £100, but only to see the allocation percentage in case nobody else tells me).

Snap; £100 which is going straight back onto the SM when (or indeed if) the loan goes live It sure is taking SS a long time to get this loan live...... also, savingstream has been rather conspicuous in their absence today. I wonder what discussions are going on behind the scene......

I am troubled by this one;
Unlike some others on this forum, I have always ignored what plans the borrower has for the money and just focused on the quality of the as-is valuation, the LTV and what a distressed sale might recover. So, to blatantly say it has zero value without PP looks a tad bad.
However, I also trust SS and they know a lot more than me about this game. They are keen to keep their 100% (recovery) record, so I don't think they would blow it on this one small loan.
Therefore, I'm assuming that SS believe the PG to be solid, but can not disclose it.
However, communicating this change of approach would have been a good idea.
For the record, I've just pre-funded £100 so that I get the email !

I've been out all day. Has this not launched or been withdrawn yet? SS are quite canny and my prediction is that they've judged the mood and may withdraw this one.

Seems they have really listened to our concerns on this one which gives me even more confidence in SS as a platform.
