It would be very useful to be able to see the topic area to which the posts relate after hitting Recent Posts. Perhaps the inclusion of the recently announced abbreviations. Does mrclondon accept this as his stretch objective on which his annual bonus will be based? Oh, how I miss the jargon of work....

So unfortunately for him he won't be getting an annual bonus based on his work here, stretch targets or no, unless we decide to start charging membership that is. Now there's an idea. Please don't forget to be polite and constructive.

I know you all are and empathise. The first part of my post was, I hope, a constructive suggestion. The second part was recognition that it was not a trivial task and that mrclondon did a fantastic job in double quick time yesterday in sorting out the abbreviations and layout. As a fellow engineer, I hope mrclondon takes my comments in the spirit in which they were intended.

With your suggestion do you mean something like you hover your mouse over the New post before opening the thread and you can see the first few lines of it? If it is that then no, as far as I'm aware. But I'll go up to the big forum above this one and mention it and we'll what comes back... (The hover over works right now but you only see the op, the very first post) Star Dust I know what's happened, you have to be here for more than a year before the free perks kick in.

Ton ⓉⓞⓃ, when I've had a couple of minutes spare I've often gone to the recent posts: p2pindependentforum.com/posts/recent There I find a stack of posts with generic headings like "Tax statement", "Site closed down?", "TrustPilot" and "Where do I send the brown paper bag stuffed full of money for Ton!!?". Following the link often takes me to a sub-forum that is of no interest, so adding the relevant forum abbreviation to the headings would help i.e. "ABL - Tax statement", "FC - Site closed down?" and "SS - TrustPilot". Also, the stack often has a multitude of posts on the same thread which can be a minor inconvenience. Personally, I would prefer to see the last post on recently updated threads rather than every post. I appreciate I'm suggesting a flake in my free vanilla ice cream, but if you don't ask, you don't get.

If you wish to avoid arriving at threads you've no interest in, it's much better to avoid "Recent Posts" and instead either use "Participated" (listing only recent updates to threads you've contributed to) or else the "New" links next to the boards you ARE interested in. Once you've read all relevant threads, then "Mark all boards read" to get rid of the rest.

Ive dropped that suggestion into relevant discussions a few times but at the end of the day its down to the individual forumite who creates the thread. Not sure its really one for the mods other than encouraging it as forum ettiquette.

Logout" If it's not there you need to goto Edit Profile >then> Settings where it's the top option.

I use recent posts on my mobile... When at a 'limited connectivity location'. It's pretty useful to get the gist of larger events as a snapshot. I get the point that tweaking each thread title* would be a major moderator overhead, but could you tweak the larger, more longer lasting ones?
*i tweaked my RS tax thread, not that it was large but every little helps, although not with the shares today.

Hi Mods/Admin, the options you describe for more selectively following threads/posts are helpful, thank you . Where users like to keep track of all new items it's useful to have the board name with the thread title to see if it's something they would like to delve in to deeper. Something that may help with this (possibly depending on your own format/layout?): 1. ADMIN > THEMES > LAYOUT TEMPLATES > POST LIST 2. Insert directly after $[post.thread], on new line: {if $[viewing_recent_posts]} $[post.thread.board.display_name]
{/if}

I don't see any change on mobile?
