That was proved wrong wasn't it? Yes, see www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-36616028. Every region in the UK voted to leave apart from London, Scotland and Northern Ireland. It seems Euroscepticism is the majority opinion. Yes, even Kirklees which contains Batley & Spen, Jo Cox’s constituency, voted 54.7% Leave.

Maybe it's just a northern thing, who knows. That was proved wrong wasn't it? I'm in the Midlands and my council area, voted 70/30, to Leave. Huge swathes of Midlands, voted out, and not just Coast areas, but also large cities. PS I was hedging my bets with my statement, didn't want to get too excited

I've been listening to Radio 4 since 11pm last night. The majority of young people who have been interviewed seem to think the result is disastrous and that the rest of the world will treat us like a black sheep. Well we gave the Europhiles a good go and it hasn't worked.
Us oldies have seen market collapses about every 15 years that's the way the world works. If we had voted to stay, the market was due a correction. Now we have the chance to recover without the shackles of a failing Europe to hold us back.
Britain has the chance to prove it can be Great again, it will take time as we are still tied to Europe for 2 years....if we fail it will be OUR fault and not bunch of overpaid Eurocrats......bwtfdik

We would not be where we are this morning if Labour had run a decent campaign and engaged with its electorate. The reality is that it's globalisation weighing on the condition of the working classes, not Europe. Leaving Europe will do nothing to help them. A very sad day.

Labour is finished outside of London, Merseyside and a small number of other areas thanks to ignoring the white working class and immediately playing the “racist” card if anyone dare mention immigration, their core vote has transferred to UKIP in England. My earlier post regarding Harriet Harman exemplifies this.

For the first time ever I really wish I voted labour at the last election ... this is the most ridiculous political gamble of all time that has totally backfired and a certain individual should really be ashamed of what he has done - i.e. caused brexit, and most likely the breakup of UK and the EU over the coming years
WELL PLAYED SIR

Under its new editor the Grauniad seems to have become one of those metropolitan elites. Not only has it relentlessly run down Corbyn, it also put itself behind the Remain cause weeks ago. There was no need for the paper to go beyond the news, analysis and commentary that it is so famous for. Going beyond that was mere propaganda. Will it now be regretting such biased publishing, which just puts it in the same mould as the privately controlled press, I wonder?

Since it moved to London, it has always exemplified the "liberal" element of the metropolitan elites in my book.

Not just labour and not just in this campaign, but the use of Parliamentary Sovereignty by every government on every EU treaty, and every party being pro-EU that has lead to four decades of a Democratic Deficit preventing engagement with the EU project by the public.
