Just because there's lots of people signing a fairly meaningless petition, doesn't mean that it's going to happen. It won't. It shouldn't - and I was (and am) strongly in favour of remaining. B'sides, it's not as if the referendum was in any way legally binding on the PM or parliament. Cameron's already bounced it back to his replacement which, imho, was absolutely the right thing to do. There's a heck of a lot of sense in the logic of this, apparently originally posted in a Grauniad article comment: The only things that Cameron’s resignation achieved was to prove his mendacity and cowardice, in other words a typical con PR man.

And if a second referendum produced another Leave win how would generation Snowflake take it?

I don't spend any of my day looking for affirmation of my views on obscure right wing websites, because I have got a job.

I'm reluctantly coming to the conclusion that I might have to join the Conservative party just to get a vote on who our next PM will be.
If you'd asked me a) about the chances of this personally, and b) that anybody would dream of "doing a JC Labour member vote on the Tories" a couple of weeks ago I would have laughed at you.
What a shambles.

/Mod hat off
The problem with just waiting until 2020 is that quite possibly none of your favoured candidates will be on the list to choose between. Maybe we need BGT/X Factor voting where a large slice of the populace can choose between more than a couple. Democracy is just a big problem, at anything much above the parish level, because nobody knows anyone (except the odd leader or author or pundit). I bet Gary Lineker or JK Rowling or Simon Cowell could poll more votes than any politician.
You can observe how well Democracy works (not) with the general BSoc board election polls ... 'here are 8 candidates (who you won't know from Adam), please vote for 8 of them'. Or PR .. 'vote for my party and I'll select a suitable electee'. A better system? Nope, sorry, no idea. Tribal Elders perhaps? 8>.

I subsequently found out that there's a three month delay on new members voting, precisely to prevent what I had in mind.

Well, although the turn out was slightly smaller than BREXIT 1, the result confirms we got it right the 1st time!!!!!
