This time it was convenient for me to sit for a while screen watching, and did pick up a few odds'n'ends while sometimes having four tabs open with rotating thingys operating. They didn't all clear in order, some taking several minutes to announce my failure, while others started much later told me of success in a few seconds. Not an experience I want to repeat too often. The system is excellent when it is not overloaded, and probably will be when buyers more closely match sellers in volume.

What worries me is that this morning should have been an optimum time to buy some loan parts, given the availability. However I tried a number of times without success.
Great for selling though. I do already have a good spread of investments on SS,so its not wildly important to me ,but I have come to the conclusion that the only way to continue to continue this diversification is to buy on the PM only.

Over the space of about two hours I have managed to buy around £10,000 in loans and sold, almost instantly, the same amount in order to rebalance my portfolio. It can be frustrating (why does the spinney thing take so long?) but it works. I'm on fast broadband in Belgium. Oh, and I reckon my success rate at grabbing a chunk was about I in 6 Now going down the pub. :-)

Oh, and I reckon my success rate at grabbing a chunk was about I in 6 Now going down the pub. :-) Whilst my numbers were much smaller, I too got parts in most of the loans I wanted to. I would estimate about one in five or so was a success and the others a failure, but I got 100% of the requested amount for all bar one of the successes. I still have a couple more loans which aren't yet at target value but all in all, a reasonably successful day. That said, it's very rare that I'm near a computer at this time of day so normally I would get online in an evening and be happy with my pre-funding numbers but have to accept I missed the SM numbers. If only it were possible to so 'auto queue' for parts on the SM... something like a maximum of 3 loans per person, a total of 10% of your existing holdings on the platform, in increments of £100 up to £20k per loan, a simple queue which filled up each person in order, putting any sub £100 into the existing 'frenzy'. Once one loan reached target, you could start to queue on another, up to 3 in total. No indication of the size of the queue ahead, but a 'you are number 6 in the queue' to show how close you are getting. Could also work on MT.

I like the broad idea, but I'd be happier to see <say> £1k per loan before the 10%-of-holdings kicks in, to help new people get accounts underway. I'd also rather see "£5,000 ahead of you in the queue" rather than "6 orders ahead of you in the queue" - if I'm putting money on the market in RS, which is very similar in that respect, I don't look at how many orders there are, but how much money. I couldn't care less if the £10k is 10 x £1k, 100 x £100 or 1 x £10k. It's £10k that needs to come looking for a buyer before it's my turn. £5k comes for sale, I'm half way there, no matter how many buyers or sellers have been involved. Wouldn't it be interesting to see how much money's worth of parts changed hands this am...?

I'm still not convinced there is any problem with bots. Just sat here for 10 mins, and bought 4 bits of loans and and sold 4 bits of loans. Diversified my loans a bit more. Got about 1 in 4 of the loans I went for And I've just got a crappy 2mb internet....... Just need to be on the ball boys and girls, fastest finger wins.....

I'm still not convinced there is any problem with bots. If there are bots, then they were being VERY picky earlier today. Certain loans - 4a/4b, yacht, 21, 36 and even various bits of the Gloucestershire Massive - were sat around twiddling their thumbs at times, especially once 71 was freshly hatched.

Just need to be on the ball boys and girls, fastest finger wins..... I think that's it, this morning on the SM I picked up 3 times the amount I was allocated through prefunding on PBL070. As far as the spinny thing is concerned, once you get that far you can move on, you don't have to wait on that page you'll either get it or not, if you do the email will arrive, just move on and try again. If you finish up with more than you want, re-sell it.

Another £110,000 odd of PBL069 seemingly being released (and swallowed) in two lumps...

And now more than £60,000 of 070. Should keep people happy.

It's 01:48, I am off to bed. Currently there are 9 loans up for grabs, some of them decent length and value and you don't need fastest finger. Favours night owls, shift workers, insomniacs and investors in the USA and the far east.
