In case anybody hasnt noticed, one consequence of the GE is that alot of the finance bill has been dumped including the cut to dividend allowance and quarterly HMRC reporting for small business. But I would assume highly likely to come back post the election.

But I would assume highly likely to come back post the election. Possibly. I suspect that quarterly reporting will be suspended for at least a year. Not sure about the cut to the dividend allowance. The latter (like the also-dumped probate fee changes) always felt like a stealth tax, which might not be needed if they drop the previous manifesto commitments on not raising income tax/NI and keeping the triple lock on pensions.

in the meantime, across the channel, things might not be quite the foregone conclusion many were expecting (hoping for). Le Pen's recalibrating of her message to voters (eg on the Euro) might prove a whisker tardy but my guess is the result will be closer than the polls suggest & who knows maybe even contrary. Important TV debate tomorrow night.

Oh dear! Oh dear! Oh dear!! Did you hear Diane Abbott this morning? What a disaster!! ...Eighty million pounds!
Can anyone find a sound clip of the reporter (Harry Secombe) interviewing the prospective Labour candidate The Rt Hon Herbert Proper MP(Peter Sellers)? AT regular intervals throughout the interview he is asked, "how much will that cost?" and the answer was always, "Eighty million pound." The total silence following one question was there - and the mess-up with gabbled words - wonderful... ...blind universities for old people's dogs .... Eighty million pound ... Wonderful stuff. It's on this LP www.discogs.com/Harry-Secombe--Peter-Sellers-and-Spike-Milligan-How-To-Win-An-Election-Or-Not-Lose-By-Much/master/154763Serious input from the Minister of Transport (Sir Orson Cart) and the foreign secretary (Sir Wellington Boot) and a confused Liberal!

That's alright then! Must also remember to ask her for a recommendation for a good Private School.

"tb REALLY h, I constantly wonder just WHO votes for her?"Apparently 9.32% of the people who have voted in this poll by virtue of their plan to vote Labour, presumably one of the former mods is included in that figure.

maybe its easier to remember what town you are in than it is to remember how you are going to fund the police force.

Er, yes but I would assume that the way someone votes in a general election indicates which party they want to form a government therefore a vote for Labour must be a vote for Abbott albeit indirectly.

Certainly not. With the British moronic X in a box system, me and a good proportion of the electorate votes for whichever candidate might defeat the idiot MP in our "safe seat". Any party will do.

Also dumped from the finance bill were the two new £1000 allowances for rental and trading income which had been intended to start this tax year. (From todays Telegraph )
