I rarely use the Virgin landline but still have to pay about £16 a month for the line. 19p connection charge and 14p a minute except my free weekend calls. Ridiculous. I was phoned once by Virgin to ask why I don't make many (sometimes any) calls, and I asked him why the charges were almost double my mobile charges, and mobiles had no connection fee and PAYG no monthly fee. He had no answer. I have a Virgin mobile 8p account which charges (would you believe) 8p per text and 8p a minute for standard calls. No connection charge. I only use it occasionally when I am away from home, when my free phone fails, and for the bank and delivery companies to text me. Almost all texts and calls from home cost 0p, with 0p monthly charge. (The tariff is 200 texts, 200 minutes, and 200mb data per month all FREE). Connection away from home can be very variable/suspect, so I don't recommend it yet as a first choice. uk.freedompop.com/uk?experience=organic.default

I pay 75p/month on mobile contract! (for 500mins/m, unlimited txts and 1GB tinternet)
This is after quarterly cashback from the contract supplier and cashback from Quidco on getting a contract from the contract supplier!
However, I confess to upgrading my £25 android smartphone to a £180 more smart android smartphone, which will last me about 2yrs, so that's another £7.50/m
ANYWAY - maybe this question is better re phrased as:
What % of your income is from P2P?

I've given up being grumpy about phones. Gets me nowhere. All I want is calls and texts. NOTHING ELSE. What I have to endure is all sorts of internet based excreta which sometimes seems impossible to disable, and means the "phone" needs charging four times as often. I have laptops.PCs for web stuff. edit 20:01 1 June: Has anyone noticed that if you type c r a p without spaces you get an automatic red faced angryticon ?

£180 for a phone, are you @@@? £180 for a smartphone is strictly budget phone territory. Mine cost me £299 for a mid-range smartphone that was significantly discounted below its usual price of approx £430. £15 pm for calls/texts/data. But for that price I can make the usual calls and texts. I can email from it. I can use Facebook messenger etc, take photos and videos and share them if I wish with friends and family. I can stream music through it and s end it to my stereo at home or the music system in m y car. I've got mobile banking apps that allow me to easily manage 14 current accounts (15 if M&S sort their app out) and multiple savings accounts.
The vast majority of my p2p investments have been made through my smartphone. I don't have the option of being logged in to my p2p accounts on my work computer so my smartphone allows me to take part at go live or loan renewal times.
Not even scratched the surface of what can be done with a smartphone. The computing power that is packed into such a small portable device is phenomenal.

I was a reluctant and quite late arrival at the smartphone party. Now on my second which I recently got having had the first for about 2 and half years. I've kept in the budget territory: paying £15 pm of which £5.50 pm is for the phone on 2 year contract. I woild have bought it upfront but didn't work out any cheaper: In fact would have been more expensive (go figure). Perhaps with shopping around I could have got better deal on contract but at least I'm not in the £30-50 pm category by going for the latest and greatest.

Often people ask how many percentage of investment profile is in p2p. I prefer to ask how much one earns from it, because ones financial situation will determine how he invests. I will start the ball rolling. i earn about 50 pounds monthly on p2p. enough to cover my mobile phone costs..... Allegedly more than enough to live on but still not quite believing it, but that's all covered in another thread (and before anyone asks no I haven't quit yet, still planning)

I do all those things on my android phone, for less than £80. £180 seems a lot while £299 just seems like such a large lot, that is two bottles of Krug for goodness sake. To be fair Mrs B is of Yorkshire stock and would have made a fine buyer if she hadn't become a lawyer. What I will say is that when the £80 marvel kicks its clogs, or more likley goes swimming in God's big white telephone I will not bother to dry it out, just get another. Though I only use it to do deals when I'm in the gym or on Holiday.

Ok, I tend not to think income, capital gains is the objective, but roughly 1/4
