The net contribution is misleading (and an underestimate) because it takes off what the EU gives back - but it gives it back to spend only on projects the EU approves of and which carry a large level of self-promotion and heavy administrative and bureaucratic costs. We would not necessarily choose to waste our money the way the EU decrees!

For the first time ever, I went into the polling booth last night unsure of how I was going to vote. In the end, I could not bring myself to vote for TM - her stilted, wooden, robotic approach throughout the campaign confirmed to me that she did not have the substance or charisma of a leader in these difficult times. What to do? Spoiling the ballot paper was an option but that seemed like abdicating responsibility. In the end I voted UKIP, not for any regard for the candidate or the leader, but merely to reinforce my Brexit vote last year.I was quite pissed off with the Cons, UKIP, Greens and Libs who could not even be bothered to send me a leaflet with the name of their candidate, some personal details and their own priorities. What a strange election. That has surprised me... Like me, i know your leanings have always been Brexit, but knowing the election outcome now, do you think it would have been more prudent to 'Lend' your vote to the Tories, even though you have some misgivings towards Theresa May? .

For me, Brexit is the most important issue facing the country. I wanted to support a Brexit supporting party. But the Conservative campaign was so awful, and TM so bad, that I could not bring myself to vote for her. Perhaps I might have voted differently if I had been in a marginal seat, but I am not. It was an ineffective protest vote (like so many of my votes over the past 50 years!).

My international lifestyle has always kept me from bothering to vote, but this time I'm 5 minutes from a polling station. No excuse. Yet I feel like it was a completely wasted exercise. Only labour was ever going to get in around here, and so it proved.
