Can't get in again this morning. The problems are obviously demand-related, but a surge in traffic and activity was not exactly hard to predict and prepare for, was it?

Not working at moment. A yoyo springs to mind.
Cant see this will be acceptable when they are a bank but having said that most banks are not that reliable 24hr services. Its a bit like our local lloyds very busy at time but minimal staff. A very rural small county town but all the majors availablé all are very busy though.

Perhaps Zopa has given an update that I've missed, but it seems to me that not only was it predictable it was created by Zopa in the first place. I'd like to suggest to Zopa that they now say that it's fee free transfers for the rest of this year. Summer is a slower part of the year along with Christmas & New Year. July was always going to be a difficlut time to do this.

I agree, and in line with your point about making the offer sensible, I'd like to suggest that they also extend significantly the deadline for lending the funds out in the ISA. I cannot understand why it needed to be four weeks - I contacted them at the time to protest. I think it should be three months after the fee-free sales offer finishes with a proviso that this will be extended if circumstances warrant it.

I did contact Zopa to complain about the problems and received this reply:
The website was under maintenance at the weekend, and unfortunately we were unable to show a 'Maintenance' screen which was why you saw the ‘Error 500’ message. We have informed the relevant department so that if there is maintenance in the future, an accurate message will hopefully show.
Previously we have seen Error messages on our site due to experiencing an unusually high amount of traffic. Consequently we have implemented more resources to better cope with this, and we are aiming to minimise errors relating to this in the future.
They thanked me for my suggestions: provide a more appropriate error message screen and consider posting an explanation on this thread. They thanked me politely for the latter, but I'm not holding my breath!
