Bingo! £150 for August on the full £50K whack. NS & I have an uncanny ability to sniff out a possible deserter, and pull an iron out of the fire by dangling a carrot at an opportune moment. Bless 'em, I'll hang about for another month ....................................................

You can rely on the FCA to do the right thing, the wrong way, and after they’ve tried everything else! A correction Sir! - "......... after they’ve tried everything nothing else!"

Bobo is right though regarding Wikipedia, it's arguably a ressonable starting point, but it's far from being a reliable source of facts........

Let that sink in......................... SIXTY PERCENT! .........................Wottasurprise. WELL past time for this moribund, self serving, arrogant and Consumer Invested Savings Destroyer to be wound up and *replaced, it's a dangerous cesspit of Gross Incompetence which only gets worse.
"Staff at the Financial Conduct Authority have slammed the regulator's leadership in an internal survey.
Sixty percent said they did not have confidence in the regulator's executive committee, according to staff polling seen by Financial News, up 36% from last year.
Fifty-nine per cent said the executive committee did not communicate effectively..."
* Of course, if Government and "Vested Interests" are involved, it will undoubtedly be replaced by an equally useless New Body. God help us. SOURCE: www.fnlondon.com/articles/fca-staff-blast-leadership-failures-in-internal-survey-20220721

"So we are in the bizarre position that the FCA will not confirm details that are in their own now officially released documents."
So, basically, the FCA doesn't know its arse from its elbow.
Wottasurprise.

We are also aware that we are an island, with a reasonably safe & insulating "moat", and in this instance don't have Russia as a relative next door neighbour.
So it makes it slightly easier to take tougher stances and lend strong support, but, tbh, I think the UK still would anyway?
It's in *our DNA.

Is Germany playing a cute game wherein they can discretely still buy Russian energy, whilst the UK and Others stand up and be counted and take the Russian Flak? I have no idea, just asking. Are the French doing anything? Not much I suspect, from a country with a perfectly formidable Armed Forces at the outbreak of WW2, who rolled over in 6 weeks or so and capitulated half their country? Hasn't Macron already trotted out their usual Appeasement Option? As I see it, the UK girding its gonads yet again, leading the charge and standing up to Real Oppressors. (As opposed to Iraq, Afghanistan, etc, but that's another discussion.) Happy to be corrected and shot down in flames if any of my observations are wrong, cut me some slack, I'm only a Colonial ........

Madness indeed, I see no discernable standout qualities whatsoever for her to be even considered for elevation. Mind you, if Prescott and Mandelson can be rewarded and end up in the VERY cushty HoL, no reason why Dorries shouldn't elbow her way to the trough too. Beyond appalling, isn't it...............

They are all uninspiring vanilla numpties, I think we all despair. The UK is also suffering from The Great Western First World Malaise - a complete, total & utter lack of ANY Leader with, errrr, Leadership. Let alone Backbone, Honesty, *Statesmanship, Integrity, Thoughtful Intelligence, Empathy, and Other Desirable Traits. God what a mess. * Oh alright, Statespersonship if you're one of them.

LOADS of Vested Interests, with Snouts In Various Troughs in various guises, ALL seeking their own Personal "Profit" from ensuring that the FCA is never held properly accountable for their Negligence and Gross Incompetence which has utterly destroyed myriad hard working people's invested life savings. Through NO fault of their own.
It's called THE SYSTEM, and we are not to benefit from it, we exist solely to be used, shafted and defacated upon. With impunity.
Prove me wrong .............

..............plans drawn up by the Treasury to overrule financial regulators. "Well, he would wouldn't he." (Those of a certain age and/or studiers of recent UK history will know who that quote is attrituble to! ) Now, I wonder, why would he oppose such plans after the exemplary job he did at the FCA? The Incompetent & Supreme Arse Coverer carries on ensuring that The Old City Boys Network survives intact. SOURCE: Transparency Task Force's "The Transparency Times" 7. BANK OF ENGLAND OPPOSES TREASURY ‘CALL-IN POWER’ PLAN Andrew Bailey, the governor of the Bank of England, opposes plans drawn up by the Treasury to overrule financial regulators. I'm a Member of a Shoot, have had two shotguns for decades, and live in London. The Met Plod doesn't seem to be overly bothered about ammunition but you must definitely keep yer guns in a VERY robust, obviously lockable, metal gun cabinet, firmly bolted to a solid wall, AND the gun cabinet must be "out of sight". Total No-No having the thing as a feature in yer living room.
