A company I know is opening a mining farm over here just across the border from Gibraltar in Spain. You/they buy the kit and they install and run the operaton. A small investment but I want to look back and say I mined it through success or failure Yup, I have purchased Envion (EVN) tokens to be part of future mining operations as well. Quoted return is 160% annual based on "conservative" estimates and BTC price of $8K, but even if it is half that, I would still be happy... let's wait and see now

You could have bought Google at year 0 and made less than that. Reality check?

with the BBC and others "claiming" this week how much electric is being used in Iceland (and no not your local shop) to mine crypto you do start to wonder how this will all end

Nothing at all makes sense in Crypto world... if, for example, you bought NEO at year 0 (which is actually only 2.5 years ago), your return today would be +422859%, is just feels rather impossible, but it is very much a real deal... day 1 price = 0.032 USD, price today 135.50 USD and still going up... I only put money I can lose, so even if all goes to 0, then be it, but potential upside is still there. I look at this as a gamble, so let's say I am spending money I would have otherwise spent in a Casino here

I personally think mining will be here for at least another couple of years...

nesako I have been told that at some point this year these farms which are currently banned will go offline and be relocated. I have no idea where they are going but it will be a good month of downtime at least which will reduce supply. My bet would be India but this is just speculation.

India is not exactly overflowing with cheap, accessible power. Which is not to say that some of the various incumbents couldn't divert the output from one of the rare (given the limited availability of reliable and cheap electrical power to the general population) power stations to mine bitcoins but....

Supply of new bitcoins mined per day will remain the same (1800 per day currently) - it will just become slightly easier for the other miners to operate.

I have to admit that using Iceland to make this nonsense is better than say a coal power station in the USA, one generates no additional damage to the planet while the other is detriment to my way of life.
Climate change is not a myth and taking part in this process is environmentally unacceptable. (see recent ethics debate)

It does seem to contain real capital in the form of 'tricity, 'puters', labour, etc. When you look at it like that, not so fictitious.

Cryptos getting battered again! Who knows where the bottom is. Thinking I might add a few more to my holdings at the bottom, so if you could let me know where it is when you find out 😂 I reckon if Bitcoin hits the $6000s again I'll be tempted to strike.

The answer is the same as the value that paper currency always ends up at 😁

Thanks Jonah. Central banks don't wasn't to give up control easily. If you don't understand central banks, which are privately owned, go research about who controls our money supply. It will open your eyes.
