At least it's newish and has fuel efficient engines. Far better than that polluting tub of lard that Biden travels around in

Moore, of course, has previous with him... www.lse.ac.uk/granthaminstitute/news/charles-moore-praises-trump-using-misinformation-about-energy/Oh, sorry, the plane? Well, the US do have a pair of new AF1s on order, 747-8s, which are only a bit thirstier than the A330 (albeit much larger, of course - the Pres can't possibly go anywhere with a tiny retinue - and, of course, Johnson doesn't take his own cars within him...) I'm really not sure that "not as bad as the US" is the optimal target when it comes to comparing climate change credentials, though.

That's the old one. Anybody who's ever driven anything properly LWB should understand breakover angles... The new one's even bigger, so probably even more prone. It weighs nine ton. Some years ago*, we were in Rome, walking near the US embassy. There were sirens approaching, rapidly. Two Carabinieri Lancia Lybras, and a black LWB S-class Merc. The gates opened, the anti-ram-raid barriers dropped. The Lancias blocked the road, and the Merc swept in. One Lancia followed - but the barriers were coming back up... BANG, crash, cloud of steam, Lancia a metre off the ground. Two Carabinieri officers leapt out, and ran round waving their arms in the air... * - it would have been March 2005. Smiley Polish Pope was about to kick the bucket and be replaced by Grumpy Hitler-Youth Pope, and we were worried he wouldn't wait until we'd at least popped round to his gaff for some sight-seeing...

Remember the highway code. Use the inside lane unless overtaking.

I wish insulate Britain had superglued themselves to the road in front of this lot, they would probably have been exterminated, I'm sure no one would have stopped in case it was terrorists (or would it have been?) .

IB's message is absolutely right. We DO need to. Their methods...? Well, if the suffragettes had only done things that didn't hack people off... And, frankly, if it comes to a question of saving the planet or annoying people like Mrs School-Run-Softroader, pass me the superglue. www.youtube.com/watch?v=lQ77YFOiunw

Yep, appalling, isn't it? "Successive governments have been criticised for failing to tackle the UK's poor housing stock - some of the worst in Europe."Yet now people are being criticised for saying that needs to change? "In the last 25 years, governments have tended to shy away from the issue. The Labour government made a rule that people extending their properties should be obliged to insulate the rest of their home too.
However, the Coalition government dropped the clause after it was labelled a "conservatory tax" in the media, even though it was not a tax and did not refer to conservatories."And there we have the issue in a nutshell. "home energy expert ... is currently refurbishing (a) home in Wimbledon, south London. He says it has added 10% to the £250,000 total cost, which included major extensions, but will save 80% of energy bills and take about 20 years to recoup."5% annualised RoI is a bargain, even before you consider the non-financial benefits.

Housing stock
Good old Gordon Brown tried to destroy some terrible housing and that got stopped because it turned out the inhabitants loved them All politics is local and property is especially local
Hands up the people who want to pay to upgrade their house within planning limits, but don't want the value of the house to go up so they remain affordable to buy..... no one
Don't blame the politicians, blame the people.
