There are some good P2P sites out there without the benefit of a big(ish) name - Horlicks??? I'll stick with them. Agreed, I am phasing out my investments...

This is not a P2P specific question - mods feel free to move the thread - but as there is a lot of expertise round here... I've been a contractor for a long time, I've just switched to the dark side as the employer made a very decent offer unlikely to be seen again at my age. But the downside is a level of tax that horrifies! My previous plan has been to pay myself only within the standard rate band, leaving the rest in my own ltd company until such times as I don't earn fees. The majority is in P2P nowadays. But I digress. The employer has a limit on what I'm allowed to push into the pension plan at around 10%. I guess the sensible thing to do is put a large amount into a personal pension (I have a couple from years ago). Or should I open a SIPP? What are the differences, pros/cons? I guess a SIPP gives the opportunity of buying things like FC fund. Also can buy trackers which are cheaper than managed fund in a PP - is this right? Also what should I do with the cash in my companies? I'm concerned the tax will double as soon as I don't have contract fees going in. Should I move as much as possible into pensions now? Are there any other options? My total assets are fairly modest at the moment, previous retirement planning went out of the window with the divorce, but I hope not to be a pauper when I hang up the keyboard. I found this very useful - www.wealthprotectionreport.co.uk/

Is there a platform that offers a provision fund that is not discretionary? There cannot be a guaranteed deposit protection scheme where p2p is concerned. Some Archover loans are "insured"; most offer around 7% return.

Pxxxxxxx Business Centres Ltd: Serviced Office Provider Project Size: £200,000 Term: 18 Months Interest Rate: 8.25% p.a. Loan Type: Secured & Assigned Thanks for the info mary . Would you mind giving us a rough idea of the number of loans available on Archover at the moment? I'm interested in this platform but I'd like to have some idea of the amount of choice on offer without having to open an account with them. I have read elsewhere on this forum that new loans don't come along very often and I'm wondering if this is still the case? Two current, four others closed in the last 12 days...

I watched this forum for about 3 months before dipping my toe into P2P and thanks to the unselfish sharing of information and advice available here, which I have selectively followed, I have (yet) to lose a penny in nearly a year. Ditto but I should've paid more attention to posts about problems with FC...

Either way looking at the SM it tells me there are people investing who shouldn't, a mere sniff of trouble and they are looking to get out, they are clearly not understanding the risk of what they are doing.
I feel that I do know what I'm doing and understand the risks; when uncertainty is generated that I am uncomfortable with, I will sell out.

I continue to be satisfied with my p2p lending investments and that is without the tax incentives, which aren't available to me due to my country of residence. While a recession would certainly impact p2p lending (as well as many other assets), I don't think it is looming right around the corner, but of course I could be very wrong. One major point naturally is diverisfication. I am currently invested in more than 15 platforms and have spread it: - geographically (mostly Baltic, Finland, UK, Ireland, and some other continental European) - currency (EUR & GBP) - in consumer, SME (loans and invoice financing), property - different terms (from very short as in invoice financing to 60 month max.) I see the sense in platform diversification, but all the major platforms in which I have not already invested seem to feature here regularly due to assorted "issues"...

I'm sure some big hitters will fill the 1 mill easily. I'm not so sure Decidedly lukewarm reaction so far. How many lenders are on Huddle? Does anyone know if the Huddle 100 actually filled up? I signed up for the Huddle 100 but have yet to see a proposition which appeals to me at all...

Following advice from another fellow forumer here, I have checked and found that indeed i could open a ltd company for p2p investment. Now I wonder how much should i earn from p2p annnually/ monthly to make it worth doing so? Accountant fees itself is a few thousand quids. I would like to hear from more experienced p2p investors. Thanks! Expensive accountant!
