The basic problem is that when you pay peanuts, you do tend to get monkeys. Most of those with genuine intellect or ambition for power understand that it is far easier now to operate through politicians than become one. Politicans are cheap to hire and easy to manipulate. I often take presentations from think tanks (Cato, Legatum etc) in my day-job. These think tanks, mainly backed by US libertarian oligarchs, love to present their ideas for the future of the UK once we reach the 'sunny uplands'. Tagging along, and in their pay, are well-known Leaver MPs, ex-Ministers and even current Ministers. They are all grubbing around for financial backing from us when their career opportunity comes a knocking. It's amazing what people will do for a bit of hard cash. Of course there are exceptions to this. Most of these Leave politicians, however, are smart enough to understand that is probably better not to tell the voters what the actual end-game is.
This sounds quite plausable. I wonder if the same thing could be happening in the EU commission where individuals have the power to control the legislative agenda behind closed doors and don't ever have to face electoral accountability?

I wonder if any other topic will be discussed for years once we finally leave. Perhaps the formation of a new political party and its rise to popularity

Perhaps the formation of a new political party and its rise to popularity I predict the main topic to be debated - perhaps after a year or two to gather breath - will be: "when will we rejoin, and will the EU have us back?"

Centre What are policies of the centre? They don’t need any. The just need the slogan “We are not the Conservatives,Labour or SNP” The others don’t matter Brexit will be sorted by the time they need a manifesto. Offer a UBI and the less sophisticated voters will follow them by the millions. That gives something for everyone. Labour gets the rich paying more taxes and Torries get there are no children in poverty or anyone else for that matter. To have a laugh just look at the definition of child in poverty and see how many even on here can’t meet that standard. I worked for 44 years in a well paid job and would struggle to meet the post accommodation income.

If you look at the time line MT was booted out quite smartly and the dumb grey males closed ranks and played self promotion with Europe instead. Just watch Ken Clarke (little shxt). Right to buy was passed by Thatcher government in the 1980 Housing Act. She was in power for 10 more years after that. One million council houses had been sold by 1987. What this has to do with the EU is quite beyond me. OK .I'm typing slowly as for the wilfully dense. RTB was one of the last positive actions to enable people to raise their standard of living without compromising their independence (as on benefits ,are you following? ) Since then a whole tranche of your fellow Brits (Eng: Scot : W and NI ) have been stalled while we happy few have swooshed into the fat lands of short term easy pickings (unsustainable) . Haven't you notice the great divide? Its not going to go away until you have a cathartic pull through with an Xmas Tree of your choice. The same for Fr. Sp. It and Gr...... as you have no doubt noticed .

Good grief no, they were far too small for such portly chaps. However if you are making a giant leap and suggesting I would wish her ill, you are a very long way from the mark.
