Except we'll probably get another Liberal masquerading as a Tory. Chris Grayling? He's got the Teflon qualities necessary.

Be careful what you wish for. She may be utterly tin eared and incapable of forming alliances, and be completely the wrong person for the role at this time; on the other hand if this pushes her deal over the line, followed by the extremely narrow based Conservative party membership putting in place a Rees-Mogg/BoJo or similar for the REAL part of the negotiations, you won’t like the outcome. Cb25 of course will.

Sad, and depressing. "None of the above" sums it up for me, but that was also my view last time round (in 2016). The current crop of conservatives just don't fire any enthusiasm in me (despite my right of centre political leanings). I think part of the problem is that brexit has swamped everything since 2015, and we haven't really seen much leadership action from anyone other than Philip Hammond. The likes of Hunt and Javid simply haven't had much of a role centre stage. Equally you can rule out the heavy remain leaning cabinet members such as Amber Rudd and Greg Clark as they will never win the party members ballot. Nicky Morgan may be the 'John Major' surprise this time round.

So that went well. No to everything. Most got less than TMs deal I think it really did go well. it identified what has reasonable support (and strong dislike) and forms the basis of the next round. Would certainly have made a heck of a lot more sense to do this in, say, July 2016 though..but well, we are where we are. That's to say in a May-induced constitutional hell thanks to her strategy and leadership.

The likes of Hunt and Javid simply haven't had much of a role centre stage. Javid is supposedly smart, but his whole invoking of a "crisis" over some purported invading armada of a couple of dinghies with ten cold, tired, scared people in them has rendered him unfit in my eyes.... forever. If Hunt hadn't ****** off the entire NHS he might have been in with a shout.

I think Bercow should lay off with this precident argument and let the terrible deal get voted on and buried forever.
Nicky Morgan seems to me as a sensible person. I shouldn't have mentioned Jeremy Hunt about whom I know very little.

Bit tricky doing PMQs as she's not an MP This is true. But she's smart, forthright, empathetic, energetic, and a good communicator. Which, in terms of capability, puts her head and shoulders above the current cabinet, and anybody who's been a member of this government's cabinet.

Conservative MP's seem out of control.
Sky's politcal editor in a tweet has the breakdown of tonight's votes on the SI to change the exit date in the Withdrawal Act (which should have been a routine step to bring UK law back into line with EU/International law) - 150 conservatives for, 93 against (on a 3 line whip).

I think Amber Rudd seems the most grown-up of the candidates. I know she's not well-fancied to win due to her Brexit stance, but although BoJo et al are party favourites, the Conservatives would want some hope of actually being elected too. If it was BoJo or Corbyn? God, what a choice.
Next days of bickering about votes is going to be interesting. The questions and method of voting are going to be absolutely key in what happens next.
