You forgot that fresh Orange juice was a rare treat and came in pint bottles delivered by the milkman I remember it coming in tins that had to be diluted... That's how we still buy our fruit and veg - off the greengrocer's stall on the market... Just opposite the fresh fish stall, along from the cheese and general grocery stall. If we wanted a whole sack, we'd go down to the potato farm on the corner. Yup, the past was a bit rubbish, really, when you get into it... Most of this rose-tinted nostalgia comes down to "I was young, I liked being young. I'm now old, I don't like being old."That sums me up perfectly.

Nine Insulate Britain protesters jailed for breaching the M25 injunction. www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-593076792 x three months 6 x four months, one has announced her intention to go on hunger strike 1 x six months, after stating in court he planned to continue All to serve at least 50% inside before release under licence - any breaches of the law can trigger immediate recall during that licence period without a court case needed.

That's about right I think. I wonder what they'd get in Saudi or Iran ....

I see that 84% of UK adults are now worried by climate change. In years to come these people will be pardoned for their noble activity (just wait a see).

Surprised the 6 month one is so short
Swearing in court is in itself an act of contempt

As has been stated here and elsewhere.
For me If I double my Water usage it only adds 30% to the bill so if I quadruple my use I only double the bill
With the new cap on electricity Lets say my rate is 25P kWh and standing charge is now 50p a day
So If I use 6 kWh a day it costs me £2 33p kWh If I use 10 kWh it costs me £3 30p kWh
So the more I use the cheaper it becomes, it hardly encourages one to be green

'Worrying' about climate change is virtue signalling imo . Its like being worried about being tall. No , just mo, its like your Mum saying: Don't stay out late or I'll be worried about you .....
Emotional blackmail to keep control over the unknown.

Emotional blackmail to keep control over the unknown. If people don't "worry" about it, they won't do anything to combat it. And we all NEED to be doing that as a matter of priority, if anything's ever going to happen about it - whether that's through our own purchase and consumption choices, or through electing leaders that will do something on a larger scale.

maybe we should invite the rest of the world to reach our goals of 1% of the global emissions... which we have now reached... then talk.. in the meantime detach electric prices from gas prices, give us all the cheap leccy we are constantly being promised from the likes of octopus energy et al... and maybe start to think about the people who die here... every year... because they have been frightened into turning their heating on.

maybe we should invite the rest of the world to reach our goals of 1% of the global emissions... Umm...? There's 195 countries in the world. If every one hit 1% of global emissions... The UK's CO2eq greenhouse emissions are roughly in proportion with our population - just under 1% of the global total for both. But that doesn't affect the minor detail that the total's way too high, does it?
