Where will all the power come from Most Solar in the Winter is less than 10% of summer, cold still days in the winter will need huge amounts of nuclear or tidal figures indicate that 350-450% extra electricity will be required to run heat pumps instead of gas another 100% will be needed to run EV's, so in total around 5 times as much as now for domestic use this is going to require massive upgrade to the grid and to the cables running down the streets. DNO's are currently quoting 2030-2035 to connect proposed new wind / solar farms to the grid. Most people in Terraced property will not be able to charge at home so will need to use public chargers but that can be 8-10 times as expensive as using cheap tariffs at home. So this puts a penalty on the poor, as martin44 an I know with tariffs such as Agile there are even times when you get paid to use electricity, but people using public chargers wouldn't be able to access this

Its madness.. never gonna happen for at least 35 yrs IMHO.

I need a 1 meter by 1 meter area to fit a heat store, and also space for a hot water tank. ( this would mean rejigging the Bathroom ) They also said £5k to fit underfloor heating in the kitchen as it would mean removing the units cutting the concrete slab, installing the pipework, relaying concrete and retiling the floor. They recommended underfloor heating in the lounge and bedrooms or swapping the double radiators for larger triples. All in I reckon heat pumps using current technology would be cost me well over £35K IE 30% of the value of the house.

The whole thing is simply unsustainable... i wrote a while ago somewhere on here, that the original plan from boris was based on a transition by 2050... we now have eco zealots saying NOW.. labour/torys saying NO DEISEL/PETROL CARS BY 2030.. according to the thunberg we should all be dead by now according to her 2018 tweet, now deleted.. i heard some idiot on talktv this morning saying sea levels are going to rise by 90mtrs... its bonkers.

Germans and French must be peed off then cos their prices are also up, mind you had the EU not tried to use the UK as a cash cow brexit probably wouldn't have happened

Beside " Because of Brexit", my all time favourite retort is " It's the Tory Cuts!" Apparently, if we'd never left the EU, and the Tories had spunked vast vats of money like Labour tends to, we'd all be living to over a 100 in a totally crime free land of milk and honey ......... For the record, I can't stand ANY of the political parties in the UK, they are all shite. In fact, political shiteness seems to be a standard nowadays and afflicting the entire Western Democracies. IMHO of course!

I would expect given the trauma people have been going through paying these gas and electric bills that if the link between gas and electricity prices could be relatively easily changed.. then why not?
