Only if you add the caveat 'since records began' (which in some cases is about 40 years).

In 1303 the Rhine, Loire, Seine, and the Oise ran dry and could be crossed on foot.

Thanks agent. I am surprised that such data isn't easily available. I'd like to see say 12pm, 1 July with temperature on Y axis and year recorded on X. No doubt many would cry "simplistic" and it is but would give a good feel for it especially if you could change the sample time of day and indeed place. But nothing like this exists? I'm damned if I'm gonna waste time knocking up a python script...

Costs nothing to sign up as a member of the public to the entirety of NASA's Earth Observing System Data & Information System (EOSDIS) And (related) for anyone interested in satellite mapping of meteorological events you might like this: NASA Worldview which I've set to the intro mode.

I must admit I am genuinely surprised this information isn't trivial to get hold of? At a time when most of the mass media want us to believe in climate change why isn't there a great resource to have a look ourselves? I believe there are two aspects to climate change "denial": 1/ People who don't believe earth is heating up at all 2/ People who do but don't attribute it to man made activity I really thought part 1 would be incredibly easy to see. Why can't I find data going back decades or more showing temperatures at a given place on a given day at a given time? I feel sure there is data going back 100 years for certain locations - where is it and why would I need to write software to view it in the way I've suggested?

Obviously you'll find it difficutl to get 100 years data for Heathrow Airport......but it does go back to 1948 which I suspect is when it first opened / transformed post war from a military base to a civilian one. That give you min/max by month by year along with rainfall.

If you go to Chamonix there are signs showing where the glacier reached in vairous years. It has receded one hell of a lot.
