I'm getting a bit concerned and want someone to tell me I'm worrying unnecessarily, please.
All of the vaccination schedules I've seen stop at the over 50's.
Johnathan Van Tam has apparently suggested that private vaccinations will not be available.
Murmurings abound of vaccination "passport" requirements for hospitality venues and international travel.
I'm under 50.
What am I missing? (except a vaccination and my freedom)

The thing is they say age is the biggest determining factor And vaccination is slow when it's everyone over a certain age, and the vaccine to start with is in short supply

Understood, from a healthcare perspective. My (potential) issue is (if) liberty is restricted for those who have not had it, when (if) a significant proportion of the population are actively excluded from the roll out. Hopefully I'm worrying unnecessarily.

A(nother) U-turn No more treacherous moaning from you dan1 , not now Gavin Williamson has confirmed we are the best country in the the world. The problem with tuning out of government propaganda is that I miss little nuggets like that from Gavlar (p.s. don't trust me with national secrets ). Moaning? 'tis my favourite hobby So what's this about only 50+ and pre-existing conditions and private vaccinations banned? Have we turned into North Korea overnight? If that does turn out to be the case then you can forget economic recovery. My working assumption is that the mRNA vaccines (think your Ferrari) go to NHS, 70+, care home staff, pre-existing conditions, VIPs etc, while the rest of us getting the modified adenovirus vaccine (think your Ford Mondeo). Perhaps my comparisons are a little unfair but I refer you to my favourite hobby In all seriousness, considering where we were at the end of March these last few weeks have been bloody brilliant. Science to the rescue.

The alternative strategy would be to vaccinate youngsters first (with passports as an incentive) as they are the ones spreading it.

It would be a strange society if we reward those most likely to have broken the rules, and punished those most likely to have complied with the regulations.

How many pubs and restaurants will force their staff to insist on a covid passport? There may be a few but in general one would assume they'd sooner take the business of younger people than turn a whole generation of 20s and 30s away.
Given how easy it has been this week to ask bars and restaurants in London to allow 6 of us from 6 different households to have a work Xmas party I do not see much enthusiasm for further (and optional) restrictions on who can spend money at hard-hit hospitality venues..
As for airlines - maybe... But a vaccination is meant to roll out next week, where is the passport? For yellow fever it's a standard document with a stamp that (in my experience) is the same regardless of country of origin. How many different forms of covid certificate will there be, even inside the UK? Unless there is a standardised approach extremely soon then the boat will be detaching its moorings by January I suspect.
Plus who knows hownl long it will be before everyone (internationally) has had the opportunity to be vaccinated - if Italy lags behind then do airlines simply decline large numbers of Italian passengers? Again, not sure that makes much business sense. Money talks and choosing to decline good business will be a hard decision to make..?

What are the stats on health 20-30 yr olds needing admission to hospital? If the 50yr old landlord of the pub has been vaccinated is that OK?
Updated specific data on risk is suspiciously tricky to find, so one can only judge that those offered the vaccine are the highest risk. It will be interesting to see whether those under a certain age are offered it (in time) only if they have certain underlying health conditions such as obesity.
If vaccine passports are introduced then how long would that be a hinderance for the economy?

Makes you wonder what would happen if the EMA refused to authorise it?
Realistically, if there are 300 people a day dying from the virus in UK, one person a day dying from the vaccine for the next 6 months would appear to be a bit of a result if we end up Covid free by the middle of next year.
For the first time I heard a rep from the Gov. (Prof Van Dam) saying he didn't expect Covid to ever go away now, but may well now be seasonal like flu.
I don't think this is particularly about whether a rep of the Government thinks one thing or another - the recognition of this or lack of so far could be politics, or it could be that none of them seem to research the science themselves. The knowledge of aerosol transmission has been known since many months ago, but still the UK has only just said open the windows. If one reads the science, then one increasingly feels like an onlooker wonder why the government or sage are or are not saying certain things.

Perhaps it will be just a declaration form rather than an official document, like the one where you need to declare that you packed your bags yourself and are not carrying a bomb.
