As far as jab organisation - I had both my first two at a big local temporary centre (now returned to being a sportshall). VERY efficient. I don't think I stopped moving the entire time I was inside for the second one... Q&A done on paperwork beforehand.
Saturday's was at the GP surgery. Fairly well organised, but not perfect. We got there ten minutes early, were told to stay in the car until time. Queue out the door, for three people signing-in. Then straight into a room for us both to be jabbed side-by-side. Verbal Q&A before the jab, felt long-winded in comparison.
We consider ourselves very lucky to have got it done locally - lots of people are reporting having to go from here in the far west of Herefordshire to Worcestershire, Gloucestershire, or even the outer Brum suburbs. Can't possibly book anything in the other direction, of course... There's a big red line there. Here Be Dragons.

I'm being a Samaritan again. Taking friends who don't drive for their boosters. 20 minutes drive, or bus and change 1/2 way, then a 15 minute walk, who decided on that location! no thought of the elderly or poor without cars.
personally given my reaction to the Moderna booster, I feel very wary of any more boosters.

The minister for example, said "I can now confirm there are hospitalised cases of omicron....". They could chose to ask how many cases We can presume at the moment its a small number. Maybe none are yet in ICU, esp. since they have not mentioned that any are. And now we have a figure. Ten. www.independent.co.uk/news/health/omicron-covid-hospital-england-booster-b1974818.htmlQuite what difference that makes to anything, I'm not sure. Now being quoted as 40% of London infections.

regarding national booking system, availability of sites, and walk-ins. I posted on here before some info relevant to where I do some stuff. This is another update/a bit more detailed but is in essence in alignment with what I previously posted.
Summary of differences between centres. Some are GP led (multiple practises come together) and have their own patient populations to get boosted etc. These are governed by slightly different rules than NHSE centres. One example: if you use volunteer vaccinators then there has to be 1GP or equivalent for every 4 volunteer vaccinators. This is uneconomical but also takes away from GP appointments. Vaccinators are also in short supply (many have gone back to day jobs). GP sites are thus focussing on vaccinating their registered patient populations.
NHSE sites have slightly different rules (e.g. different ratios for volunteer vaccinators to professionals) and different situation e.g. no registered population to vaccinate. So these are the bulk options for national booking system and walk-ins.
posted in case this is of use to anyone to help explain what they are/have experienced.

I'm trying to (re)book my booster jap appointment. It's so busy I'm in the "queue waiting for the queue". Which I guess is a good thing!
EDIT: And it crashed.

Had my booster a month ago yet I still get reminders by e-mail and text to say their records show I haven't had it yet.

Had my booster a month ago yet I still get reminders by e-mail and text to say their records show I haven't had it yet. Likewise. I have had emails, texts and snail mail telling me to book my appointment as no record of my having had it. However it showed up in my digital vaccine passport PDQ. It may depend on whether you had your booster via the GP or the NHSE centres (or not). But I'm told that it can take up to six weeks for systems to synch up with the central NHS system from which these reminders are generated (which smacks to me of some horrendous manual process going on, but what do I know).

EDIT: And it crashed. don't forget you need to book it for no less than 28 days from your last +ve test - at least that is the check that is still in use when you get to the f2f part.

They do jabs at my local community centre in town, but not bookable through the NHS system. Have spoken to several people who had booking there but walked away because the queue was so long.
I had to reschedule my booster when the PCR test on return from Spain was announced. Got the negative result on 11th and booked at Taunton mega vax centre for 12th. Only issue was that Taunton is appointment only, but the walk in center up the road at Bridgewater was overwhelmed, so they were sending them down to Taunton. Overall I got the impression there were lots of willing arms looking for a needle.

if you are thinking of ordering LFTs from NHS central - think again. I've just tried and they have run out.
Sorry, there are no more home test kits available right now.
Try again later.
Or, you can go back and try to book a test site appointment instead.

How big is the wave?
“Sadly yes Omicron is producing hospitalisations and sadly at least one patient has been confirmed to have died with Omicron.”

That's how it learns to deal with it, how it works. my side effects were horrific, 2 days after Moderna ( booster ) I struggled to get out of bed, I still have pains when I straighten my knees or elbows, pain from the vaccination site running into my neck, and that's nearly 3 weeks after.

Wow, that's bad; I feel sorry for you. I had the Pfizer booster, and like my previous two AZ jabs, I couldn't even feel where the needle had gone in! I'm beginning to wonder if there's something wrong with me. P.s. first Omicron death announced.(They're not sure if it's of or with).
