Odds of Glastonbury not being a super-spreading event? I hope not, daughter is leaving her car at ours and getting a local train there - assuming they are running otherwise muggins will be driving her there as close as I can get her to Castle Cary of course she may have to walk the last bit!. The festival buses at Castle Cary will be still running i guess... Hopefully she won't come back with a dose of covid! after the weekend.

Odds of Glastonbury not being a super-spreading event? At this rate, BA.4 / BA.5 will be spread very quickly in the UK before anyone gets a BA.4 / BA.5 specific jab. erictopol.substack.com/p/a-reinfection-red-flagThe real question, how many people have been infected three times with symptoms? We haven’t heard any celebrities being infected third time yet including our future king in waiting

Odds are some kind of lockdown before November; otherwise the Democrats will have to vote in person in the Midterms.

Well, I have no idea how Worldometer showing 68 deaths in the DPRK. Meanwhile the KNCA reports “miraculous” low death rate and amazing speed of recovery without any help of vaccines nor antiviral treatment. 300k people under “medical” treatment!!! gargling with salt water and drinking herbal teas

Odds of Glastonbury not being a super-spreading event? It's pretty much all outside, so not that high. Meanwhile, I was singing at a few gigs as part of a festival last weekend. One, in particular, was absolutely rammed. Several of our guys tested positive a couple of days later. The rest of us had recently had it.

Odds of Glastonbury not being a super-spreading event? Odds of that mattering? Not being flippant, but might moving towards herd immunity be a good thing now? Just an idle thought based on no knowledge of virology whatsoever...

Meanwhile, one of my friends’ family tested positive last week were busy in the banks and playground’s. Waited 5 hours in the bank. I guess some people are happy the share the love of covid while tested positive. 😷 Deaths are also on the rise. Weekly deaths in England was lowest in the Jubliee celebration and it is on the rise. Worldometer shows 600% increase of weekly covid death in Germany, still way below peak in last December coronavirus.data.gov.uk/details/deaths?areaType=nation&areaName=Englandwww.gavi.org/vaccineswork/how-bad-fresh-wave-covid-19-infections-being-driven-ba4-and-ba5-variants-likely-be

I'm unsure where the reporter got "scores" from. But I guess that lots of people (who probably hadn't been jabbed for some time), crowding together and singing to the music would have exhaled lots of germs. And most will have travelled to the site in groups in enclosed vehicles.
The Tour de France starts tomorrow. Apart from the risk of spread among spectators, there's speculation about how many of the cyclists will catch the virus. Some 30 riders pulled out of the recent Tour de Suisse because of Covid - some had it, others were in teams that decided to pull out because of the risk.

I visited one of the mass vaccination centre today, the management decides to close covid vaccination hours early due to Monkeypox vax.
Unfortunately, this mass centre cannot be booked thru national booking system but can be booked via email.
I had no visit to return another hospital for the booked appointment same day. The vaccination centre on the other hospital has been moved to a suite. Extra freebies, toys, certificate and stickers.

A relative, early sixties, is immuno-compromised following an earlier serious illness and a cocktail of drugs to control it. He's had five covid vaccines to date and his wife has been shielding him as best as possible, but on Friday morning he felt unwell and tested positive for covid. He is in the vulnerable group who should be given the new antiviral medication(s) within 48 hours to ward off the worst outcomes. Encouragingly, he received a text Friday evening from the NHS, within a few hours of reporting his positive test to them. The text stated that a GP will contact him within the next 24hrs to arrange this medicine, but if nothing is heard within that timeframe, to dial 111. So far, so good... By Saturday evening, with no GP phone call , his wife rang 111 on his behalf. After a protracted discussion, she eventually managed to get the tool at the other end to understand the situation and the urgency and he arranged for a nurse to ring back. This nurse agreed that, yes, he needs the antiviral treatment, but it'll take 3-5 days to get it. His wife complained that he needs it within 48hrs to be effective. The nurse agreed, but said there's no way of getting it to him now, within that timeframe. Basically they don't care if he lives or dies. Where can he go from here? That's today's NHS. I hope they don't expect us to clap on the doorstep any time soon.

There's a difference between caring and having the resources to turn that caring into action.
