Its a good poll to have although slight shame the "can't" and "won't" options aren't split. I'm in the "am using it all the time" camp for now which is about twice a week when I go out....

I understood that the point about 90% false positives was that if you contract the virus you are infectious for about 7 days but may still be PCR test positive for about 70 days meaning that many more people may be asked to self isolate than is necessary to reduce the spread.

It's strange there are not enough praises for Isle of Wight. Even now, the cases in Isle of Wight for the last 14 days remain under 13. Perhaps people in the Isle of Wight actually self-isolate, unlike the majority in the rest of the country. It is a constant source of frustration to me that so many people appear to think it's ok to ignore the regulations. Down in my part of Devon we are law abiding, god fearing folk, and the current infection rate is >3 per 100,000.
It's no real suprise to me that the the biggest outbreak in Devon is in the University area of Exeter. The sooner they start expelling students for flagrant breaches of lock down the better.

There’s no reason why the gov not promoting the proper uses of the app.
Want a pint? have your Covid app opened and scanned.
Studying in Uni? have your the app scanned at checkpoint?

Well, no one can leave a country without a valid passport. This could be a new passport for new normal activities.
Passport is not free.

If you don't have a phone show them your token so get in...... Or your token is more advanced and can scan itself.... Essentially though, its taken until now to get any sort of app at all. This in a country choc full of software engineering expertise. As well as not committing so many mistakes, the government needs to become a lot more imaginative. Can't see that happening soon though.

I'd have no problem with the idea of a token provided that they were available and free.

is it just me, or is the biggest issue with using the app (assuming you can/have installed it) is remembering to switch it on ? I've probably only managed about 30% of the time I've gone out since I had it.
I'm utterly baffled as to why it has not been built with some form of simple pseudo geo-fencing capability. I know it avoids using GPS, but most people when at home have their smartphones connected to wi-fi. Could it not alert/remind you (or even ask your permission to simply act automatically) when for example connection to your declared home wifi is lost ?

I'm still staggered there aren't long running public health messages (radio, tv, web, billboards etc) for stuff like social distancing, washing hands, ventilating indoor spaces, wearing masks , etc. I'm not talking of the lastest new initiative (like the current one: hands, face, space) because people switch off but one that hasn't changed since March. In this spirit we should be seeing a message to remember prior to leaving your home - keys, wallet/purse, mask, app. Why don't they do these simple and relatively inexpensive things? Is it for fear of offending the libertarian right of the Tory party?

Why not just leave it switched on all the time?

I use a mid-range Android phone and downloaded the app when it became available.
Contract tracing has been on continuously since installation, day and night, home and away.
I use the venue check in QR codes whenever they are available, it works really well.
I have had no problems with the app, there has been no significant impact on battery usage, and I am glad to say no alerts.

I hear quite a lot of ads like that on Spotify actually. I don't know if that's a deliberate strategy to target young people or just because ads are cheaper there.

I'm in a similar situation (albeit my Anderoid phone is the cheapest Samsung I could find).
I am heartened by the number of people I see scanning QR codes on entry to pubs and other businesses around town, and also by the fact that nobody appears to get a drink until they have either scanned in or given their contact details.
