Apparently First Direct is introducing a Regular Saver Account tomorrow (28/04/2022) which pays 3.50%.
Deposits are restricted to £300 per month, and applicants must already have a First Direct current account. Nevertheless, it's not a bad deal from a bank that doesn't usually offer competitive interest rates.

Worth about £60 odd a year. Compared to their £150 switch lure. As usual new accounts get better treatment than loyal customers.

I remember twenty-odd years ago they did a similar offer - £50 or so for opening an account. I phoned up and complained about loyal customers being ignored and they gave me the £50. Not sure I can be bothered with the arguing now, and doubt they'd be as generous!

Coventry website only shows 0.7% from 1 June for Easy Access Saver (7). Only place I could see 1.5% from 1 June is First Home Saver account.

Zopa's 1Y has just moved up to
2.05% AER* Fixed | 2.03% Gross**
Still waiting a bit longer though there is more to come I feel. should probably move funds out of PB's unless they are about to uplift too ...

Yes, I think it's best to wait for fixed until the race is finished. Had good news today - my 12 year old Coventry reg saver is going up to 1.65% from 1st June. Few weeks ago I was thinking about transferring my Coventry funds to Chase, but decided to wait. Worked out well.

It's hard to discern Coventry's strategy. they have a huge number of accounts which are closed to new money but on many of them they voluntarily keep the rate competitive in order, I assume, to deter withdrawals. Seems contradictory to me.

I've given up chasing interest rates around the banks/Bs's. Even on £100k, 1% rate or 2% rate is only £1k different, hardly lifechanging. As many will have circa £10k, thats only £100 difference, can't bother to do the research for that!
